Having a tub refinished off site: sort of x post

palimpsest

I am thinking of making an offer on a house with 110 year old bathrooms and the tubs seem to be in rough shape.

I have seen on television having a tub refinished offsite at a higher level than the in-home coatings. I know some people have had success but mine was an expensive disaster that lasted a couple of months, and I didnt particularly like the "painted" feel of it anyway.

I am in the Philadelphia area...any information on the process. Someone suggested contacting dealers in architectural salvage (a great idea) anyone know of one around here that deals in plumbing?
