Comments (4)I have had a SS Kitchen Aid warming drawer for over two years now. It is completely stainless inside and out. It came with several NSF pans with lids and a shelf so you can stack plates or dishes. It has several settings and a moist or dry feature. The hottest setting is too hot to handle dishes without protective pads. The lowest setting is probably around 75F or proofing temp. I have put many breads and dough in it to proof and it worked fine. I put my drawer in the top position in a drawer base with two deep drawers underneath it. I have a granite counter, so when I have guests, I turn on the warming drawer and put the plates ON the counter. The plates will warm from the granite being warmed. It's much safer than having guests handle plates possibly being too hot. I have a lot of family here and we often eat at our home several times a month. I use that drawer all the time. I can cook ahead and get the kitchen cleaned up. All we have to do is pull out heated pans when everyone arrives. I cannot tell you how great that is if you've cooked a huge pan of BBQ and beans. Everything stays the perfect temperature. If I know someone will be home within the hour or so, I will use the drawer to keep food hot. If they're going to be longer then I will refrigerate food and they can nuke it in the microwave. I kept my eyes on eBay and found a brand new Warming drawer here in town for sale. The box was messed up and they said it had a scratch on it. I couldn't find a scratch anywhere on the thing. I also got this drawer for a whopping $300. AND it was brand new. I would most definitely buy one again. FWIW: My SIL has a Frigidaire WD in the bottom of her range. She doesn't use it. Comments (1)Sachets just add one stink to another. Clean the drawers with vodka after your stain has cured in. Sitting in the garage made them smell worse as they were not getting use or air circulation. Heat breeds bacteria, which breeds stink, which is what happens when you do not use something and it sits in an unairconditioned environment. Vodka will kill the bacteria. Lots of alcohol in vodka. Use the cheapest brand money can buy and clean your drawers with it a week or so after your stain has cured in. You might have to repeat it in the warm weather. Just like houses that are not occupied, the bathroom begins to smell like the toilet was never flushed, drawers will have bacteria build up and that is where the odor arises. It's called incubation. Comments (4)I put pulls on all of my integrated appliances, including WD, so that there would be a visual cue that it was an appliance, especially the fridge drawers and WD, since the coolers and DW have their shapes for cues. You don't have to do that! If you want your WD to look like a regular drawer, put a knob on it! My WD is Monogram, but as far as I know it's like any other WD--there's a gasket that creates the only seal, and it's not a pressurized seal, and the drawer itself is very light weight. There's actually more to pull against in my regular drawers with the springs on the soft closers than on the warming drawer, so a knob would be perfectly functional. Comments (3)Mine is under my 30" oven stack. I use it quite a bit simply because I need/want it. I read many times here that people who put theirs under the ovens didn't use it often because the location was not very user-friendly and that those who put theirs up higher used it more often. My WD was a last minute add-on after my cabs were almost completed. It was easy to swap the drawer under my ovens for a WD so I went for it. I wouldn't worry about the hot sides any more than I'd worry about the hot oven door when open. Like Dretutz, I can't out 4 dinner plates side by side in mine. Mine, a KA, came with rails and racks like those found in ovens so I think I could use the racks to put two plates on top and two on the bottom. Instead, I always store the food in the bowls, tray, etc in which I either cooked the food or would serve the it instead of plating and warming. Side note, I don't store food in it for serving for more than about 70-90 mins or so. I find that food that needs moist storage gets soggy and food that needs dry storage gets too dry after a certain period of time. (Mine has a switch for moist or dry storage.)...See Morecapecodcook
