Comments (6)Rita, Thank you, I liked this one from the first time the picture was posted on the forum...by Tweetybird, I think, and it is a large bloom I am so oriented to finishing a task that I didn't want to stop until that top strip was finished...well stop I did, instead of moving the ladder as planned, I cleaned up my mess and quit for the day. I have no business taking falls like that, and I know, only too well, exactly how bad it can be. I am very lucky that I was an obsessed roller skater when I was a young teen, skating more than 20 hours a week. I built pretty good bones that way, and they still serve me well. Good thing too, since I have always moved too fast and had the resulting undignified, unplanned, "stops". And do love the way the shed is looking. I wound up using a very pale yellow for the trim. I hated the light green with it, and this is the effect I wanted. Maybe I'll get to post pics early next week. kay...See MoreWill the darker gray shade on a strip show less blue?
Comments (12)So even if it's on the same strip card, it could have different undertones? Undertones are purely subjective, experiential and have nothing to do with paint colors. Really. They don't. All paint color collections are based on hue families. To that point, Sherwin Williams just released their new in-store color display which organizes their colors by hue family first, then by saturation (vivid to dull). Major colorimetry kudos to Sherwin Williams for getting it right. When it comes to the old SW color strips, there is no guarantee that all the colors on the strip are from the same hue family. They *might* be. They might not. A paint color strip is not a color string. A color string is when you take the darkest color in the group and do mathematical "let-downs" so you end up with different value steps of the same color. Most paint color strips are not color strings, are not mathematical "let-downs". Color string color strips do exist in the market, but there aren't many. The majority of the time you have a random collection of paint colors with *maybe* some attribute or aspect in common featured together on one strip. (so if you come across some kind of magical "paint color system" that claims to make paint color selection "no-fail" based on fandecks or color strips know that they're total b.s.) I'd rather greenish/brown undertones than blue/purple! Dovetail SW 7018 belongs to the yellow hue family. Which is why even the digital swatch looks far away from anything blue/purple. I know it belongs to the yellow hue family because I'm that color professional who sometimes visits the GW. ;) Lowes mixed it and it turns out, the gallons I bought were slightly different than the sample can I used and based my decision on. So...I'm thinking I may be able to wind up with more paint at their expense (hiring painter for my vaulted ceilings, though, is on me). When you cross brands and color match, all bets are off, no guarantees. Lowe's uses different colorants than Sherwin Williams. While Lowe's (or any place) can indeed produce a color match that might meet paint industry standards for being a "color match", no one is promising that it's going to look and behave in situ exactly like the original SW color mixed using original SW product....See MoreCrazy snail made his way all the way up an Angel Face tree rose!!!
Comments (14)Awwww thanks everyone. I have metal addiction for sure. Lol. My very first arbors came from Smith and Hawken right before they went out of business so I gobbled up 4 arbors and lots of window boxes since they were marked down sooooo much. All my others came from Hobby Lobby and antique stores. My nieces friend was selling her gazebo so she snatched it up for me. My Angel face isn't really that huge but did bloom out perfectly all at one time. It was a barefoot from HD. I know all about snail eating hosta. I need to get some sluggi bc they are devouring my hosta right now. Soooo irritating!!! Thanks again y'all!!!...See MoreExterior - Why are my gray paint colors showing up so blue?
Comments (18)Same here, la_la Girl. We sampled several darker grays to work with a peachy brick, and the best was BM Kendall Charcoal that leans a tad green. The house doesn't look green, though. HU-822985052, I hesitated to make suggestions to repaint everything, because I know how expensive it is. I'm not sure what lighter color would work with Kendall Charcoal, but we can certainly do some research if you want to go that route. It's so tricky to choose colors that will look as good on your whole house as they do in your hand. Not my house, but you can see it doesn't look green. You can use it for just the trim, and find a lighter color that gives the same non-blue/purple result....See Moreivy_mi
