Comments (8)Wow Talk about some great info you all rock. I will try to answer the few questions I saw, if I miss anyone just reply. I am in Texas not chicago area. I do think the short square one is walnut , someone else say it and thought it was earlier in the year. The short square one appears to be mostly solid with veneer on both sides, but not on the top or the draw faces. The shorter of the two serpentine fronted ones has veneer on the drawer fronts but appears to have a solid top. The taller of the two sperpentine fronted ones has veneer on drawer fronts and on the top. I'm not sure about where I will sell them, probably craigslist or ebay. If anyone is intrested let me know. I will post them soon for $250.00 for each of the birdseye serpentine fronted ones and $175.00 for the short square one. I know thats on the high end of the sugjested price range, but I don't have to sell them so it's not a biggie. Thank you all so very much for your time and great info. Comments (20)As per usual you have great suggestions from the local talent, floral, toys, bathroom items, etc, the two others I might suggest is shoes or laundry? I have a basket by the back entry for tossing in shoes when we come in the house, its actually used for the shoes we wear out to the back yard, or take walks in, gardening shoes etc, and the grandchildren use it when they come in and out. Its in lieu of one of those boot trays which is also handy but holds less. It would make a lovely laundry basket, you could use it for gathering laundry, looks like it would hold a whole load of clothes and towels, and then delivering it, and its pretty enough to leave out in the laundry room rather than a plastic basket although not as stable since it rocks, the handle would make it easy to carry....See MoreI need help Identifying my highboy dresser
Comments (14)Not sure what you are still questioning. As others have posted, this isn't an antique in the *legal* sense of the world. It is used furniture that was probably purchased by the original owners in the 1970's or thereabouts. Hopefully the amount you paid is what it is worth to you as a sturdy piece of "traditional" furniture. The value of what is called "brown furniture" is not that high because it is out of style and therefore not high in demand. That is coupled with there being a huge quantity of it flooding the market as baby boomers die or down size since furniture like this isn't disposable and therefore can theoretically last forever :-). Value of traditional used "brown furniture" while not high anywhere would probably vary depending on region. In the South where tastes are still traditional, it is probably higher than in Southern California or the Pacific Northwest. I had some authentic antique "brown" furniture which I needed to dispose of and I literally found it hard to give it away because it simply isn't the taste of most people furnishing their homes....See MoreDetermining age/antiquity of high boy dresser
