I had never heard of it, but read some reviews on Amazon.com. There aren't many - 4 or 5 as I recall - and one woman said she wasn't impressed. I'm skeptical of the glowing reviews, because you never know if these are from people who are involved in the parties/selling themselves, just trying to drum up a positive reaction to the products. I think that anything that sounds too good to be true, isn't true.

Okay, so I must say I have experienced exactly what you are going through. Yes, I lost lots and LOTS of hair during and after my pregnancy. My baby is 13 months old now and my hair is still growing back. I am having to buy a whole bunch of head bands to hold back the growing hair. Without these headbands, I look like Albert Einstein! As far as scalp treatment goes, I highly recommend a product by Arbonne. It is called Thermal Fusion hair and scalp revitalizer. At first I didn't think this would work (being that I tried countless others). I tell you what.... IT WORKS! The product is well worth it's price. As long as you listen at all, as long as you're willing to 'change' the conversation, and sometimes even buy products you never intended to--this person knows as long as she keeps talking, she's got a chance of selling you more. I'd tell her once more what you've told us--that you are no longer going to listen to her sales spiel, nor buy her wares. THEN you have to follow through. If you're speaking on the phone, and she brings up her business, remember an appt. and get off quick. If you're in a gathering, and she starts on you, don't change the subject, walk away and find someone else to talk to. If you and she go out to lunch together and she starts up--ask the waiter to pack your food to go. It's up to you to make it clear to her that you simply are NOT going to be drawn into this again. Unfortunately, she's learned that while you have told her one thing in the past, a little persistance will get through your defenses. You have to learn from her example and become even MORE persistant than she is. Good luck. And to answer your question? yes, I've known people like that in the past. When they won't take 'no' for an answer, I avoid them until they get the point. Better yet, sometimes, I've sicced my husband on them--he always asks them so many unanswerable questions, and keeps at it so long, they generally get to a point where THEY'RE the ones trying to escape--LOL.

December has been a good reading month for me. After finishing The Moonstone, which I really enjoyed, I read Joan Didion's The Year of Magical Thinking, The Sittaford Mystery by Agatha Christie, Dark Matter by Michelle Paver, and most recently, The House on the Strand by Daphne du Maurier. The du Maurier novel has been mentioned recently by some other RPers, so I thought I would give it a try. I have mixed feelings about du Maurier as a writer, but somehow she's able to draw the reader in and keep them enthralled. She might not have been a great prose stylist, but she's a great story-teller. There were a lot of things to love about The Moonstone but my favorite was its humor. I suspect sometimes this was unintentional. The young lovers in the book are meant to be sympathetic, but they are almost hilariously self-centered and caught up in themselves. Other characters die, sometimes horribly, and its just water off a duck's back to the hero and heroine. The character of Miss Clack has to be one of the funniest in Victorian fiction. Wilkie Collins was certainly brave in so ruthlessly lampooning sanctimonious religious ladies. The Didion book, which is a memoir of the year following her husband's sudden death (from a heart attack) seemed appropriate as there has been a lot of illness and death in my circle of family and friends this year. One of my closest friends lost her mother unexpectedly about ten years ago, and I witnessed first hand some of the coping mechanisms Didion describes. Dark Matter is a ghost story set in the Arctic. A young meteorologist finds himself alone at a research station, when he becomes aware that there is the ghost of a murdered man wandering around his camp. The book is seriously spooky and atmospheric. If you like books about winter, you'll probably enjoy this novel. Paver thoughtfully includes a list of fascinating books about the Arctic for further reading. She mentions a book called A Woman in the Polar Night which is the memoir of a trapper's wife who finds herself stranded and alone at an arctic camp during the season of perpetual darkness. I get the impression this book was published in the 1950s or earlier. I think the author's name was "C. Ritter", though Paver's discussion of the book is a bit unclear. Definitely sounds interesting though.
