3rd finished bath - Kid's bathroom
Comments (2)Oh...that's just perfect! We are just about to start renovating 3 bathrooms, and I want to do a very SIMILAR approach to the basement bathroom. Cept we are thinking of replacing the tub with a shower for hot tub guests to use (kids have grown up and left home, and when visiting shower anyways). May I ask you why you bumped out the counter for the sink? Was there a functional reason, or for aesthetics? (Looks very pretty) I'd leave the wood trim natural. You have tied in quite well with your baskets, and I assume from the outside hallway it goes with the rest of the house....See MoreMaster Bathroom Mostly Done...Photos
Comments (42)Hmmmm. This is interesting. I reposted the photos to my photobucket account, but I personally cannot see the photos in this message--it still says "photos have been deleted or removed" where the photos would be. However, it sounds like others can now see the pictures, so I'm going to assume it is fine for everyone. Anyway, enjoy. Glenna, the dark marble hex tiles are Vinchianzo marble, a very dark charcoal grey, sort of like a faded black. I bought the two different color marble hex mesh sheets (all solid), and then picked out the hexagons where I wanted daisies, and substituted the opposite color. I just have 7 daisies (lucky number!) in the bathroom--6 dark and one light one in the shower. They are randomly located instead of in a specific pattern--sort of like petals accidentally dropped. I originally had a much more elaborate scheme planned, and I mocked it up on a tiny scale on paper first and loved it. But in actual size I realized it would have been garish, so I threw out all of my hard work, and am very happy about doing that! On slickness, I don't have any issues whatsoever. I also wouldn't really be worried about an elderly person on a visit or a crazy, wet, running toddler. But I suppose if I was specifically planning for someone who was extremely frail, there might be even safer choices. I believe the small tile size and resulting increased grout lines provides some extra traction vs. large tiles, though. Good luck....See MoreHere's my tentative black-bathroom plan w/pics
Comments (6)Cinnamonsworld. I had no idea you were thinking of this. This is Manhattan loft looking and I love it. I have a small bathroom but so do lofts!!. My vanity is 50 inches and can be painted black. Love the sink too. It is the way of the future. I hope you do it and send me or the site some pictures when you are done. It is stunning. I'm clipping your post. Don't let anyone talk you out of it. It makes a very contemporary statement that you can accessorize with small bits of color. I really like the satin chrome features faucets though and think that is the only thing I would change if I did it. Good job, my dear....See MoreMicro Bathroom: Need full-service w/shower (head?)
Comments (6)Sina and Debbi...Thank you...both. Your comments are well-taken. (I already have 3 professional tenants whose schedules are such that one lovely master bathroom works for all on 2nd and 3rd floor suites.) *I live in a prime, respectful neighborhood adjacent to Syracuse U a private university, thus visiting professors, visiting nurses and an international community love this set-up already. So...would you recommend expanding into kitchen/refrigerator area OR mess with infringing on expansiveness of dining or living room area adjacent to bedroom on other side of 1st floor? YES! Awesome tile that actually blends with the 1928 character of my home. Yes, I love preserving character, yet also know that the joy for me is in inviting warm, wonderful people into my life so I can join with other seniors as I become one myself! Thank you so much!!!...See Morekirkhall
