old pretty covered footed pottery dish...any ideas?

Here's something I found today...it is in great shape except for staining and some dirt on the bottom inside section, no chips or cracks (except for an amazing amount of crazing...maybe it was there originally?) It definitely reads as truly old, with lots of clues e.g. the very wornness of the little protectors on the bottom...

Anyone know what style this piece is? TIA :)

Not sure what you mean by "truly old". those things on the bottom were added it appears to keep it from scratching the table.
It's pottery not stoneware nor porcelain...hence the crazing of the glaze....it looks to be hand decorated and something about the style, colors and design of the paint says Russian, Polish or Slav in some way.
How big is it? I think it's neat but don't know what it is!

Looks Turkish to me. And I agree it's pottery, and I'd say anywhere from 1950s to 80s.

With all things considered, the op may do well with a shiny new penny. As far as steering repair on these, I always recommend installing a new sector kit. 167903 is the pre-built sector. Off the deck comes, the drag link end, the steering wheel and adapter, the fuel tank gets moved aside- plus4 bolts and the sector finds its way out. The part is ~ 80$. The drag link itself should be inspected and replaced if the joints are sloppy and may pull apart, Of course, that adds ~ 50$ to the bill.You will want to know too that the upper steering bushing has its mounting screws in place yet . The crosslink that runs between the two axle spindles can bend and create a poor steering response too, so have a look at that to ensure it is straight. While you can pull the sector and replace the plastic support for $10. I never do as it seems that the rest also has enough wear once problems develop- that skipping can still occur or it will come back soon enough to bite you.

Need ideas to germinate old old beans

Thought I'd report back on germinating beans with a nitrate solution. (Only a third [8/24] of my beans planted in ground earlier in May had germinated). In the cell pack with Miracle Grow I planted 72 beans. Thirty one germinated, so 43%. The cells were too small, so that a couple of beans got their roots growing over the stem, so that they could not get up out of the soil. Pretty weird to see a bean with true leaves trapped in the pro-mix, coiled twice,yet not able to escape the roots. Those roots were partly above the soil. Also, some beans came up with oddly thin stems. (That was the case in the garden as well.) Quite a few had trouble completely splitting their seed coats even after their were well above the soil, so I gave them a little help with that. Tonight I planted out as many as I could. Will be interesting to see how many survive transplant. I left the weaklings in the cell packs to see if they will develop any more. I still need to plant out a lot more but I'm going to move on to my seed purchased for 2018. Got to get them in pronto.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I just got back from a "scoping" trip to Home Depot. I did not see any solid core doors, but the hollow core ones I don't think would work, since I'd need to cut it down. I looked at the plywood and I guess something like that could work, but I didn't get anything yet. They also had particle board with a melamine coating for $20-something a sheet, but I'd need to do something with the edges. The plexiglass at HD was over $70 and kind of flimsy. At a local salvage store I stopped by on the way home, they had a piece of tabletop glass slightly bigger than I need. The guy offered it to me for $50. But it will over hang the base by a couple inches on each side. Does anyone know if it's possible to get a tempered glass tabletop cut down? Also, my dh is concerned that his optical mouse won't work on a glass top - does anyone know whether this is true?

I just painted me boys' room, age 6 and 3. I wanted something fun and bright, but was hestitant to go with a theme because they will outgrow it before I have time to paint again. I did a really rich blue wall (medium to dark color - I just found a blue shirt I really liked, then used it to pick a paint color.) The blue really pops with the trim I painted white, their white dresser and warm pine colored beds. Then, I painted 3 stripes about 1 foot from the ceiling - thin white (about 1 inch thick), then a thin band of the wall color, then red (about 10 inches thick), then a band of the wall color, then thin white again. It goes all the way around the room, and adds some serious pizzaz and helps to make the space appear larger. I did the same stripe in my last house at chair rail height, and stenciled some Dr Seuss words on it for a more juvenile effect. You could stencil any shapes you wanted, or use those wall stickups if you wanted a theme. Then I added red/blue plaid quilts, and some fun artwork, some red/blue striped curtains with white curtain rod, etc. It is super cute and they won't outgrow it anytime soon, I hope! To the person looking for surfboards, I saw one seller who makes them on ebay if you search, and they are super cute. I looked at her surfboards and ended up just making my own with plywood and a jigsaw. Not that hard of a project, and I was able to personalize them for my girls.

Thanks for your replies--I guess by "truly old" I meant not fakely crazed like some pieces today -- not that it was from the 19th c. or anything...just not 'new' and 'aged'.

And idee, you second something I felt I was discovering last night--it does look most similar to Turkish pottery I saw on the web...which means, in this particular home (I'm half Armenian, don't know my family on my father's side very much because so many of them were killed in 1915) the piece will be LEAVING IMMEDIATELY upon confirmation that it is indeed Turkish. If by any chance it turns out to be Armenian (I know it's very tough to tell sometimes but I'll be trying), it will stay as an honored guest. You can mock that if you want but we don't have anything from Turkey in this house even if it's beautiful.

The covered dish on a pedestal is very common as a serving dish in various cuisines.

The design motifs are the generic "Middle Eastern" or "Mediterranean" ... which runs from about Greece all the way over to Pakistan and wraps around North Africa.

There's an outside chance of it being Spanish or Portuguese.

The crazing may be part of the design. Yes, it can be done intentionally when manufacturing art pottery and is not necessarily an indicator of age.

calliope, thanks--I'm well aware of intentional crazing -- but this has enough other age-dirt etc. that I don't think it was just manufactured. I could see it being from the 50s on up, as idee mentioned.

Based on spacing, two felt buttons are missing. These are anti-scratch pads and also protects the base from chipping, a nice touch. I believe that these buttons were flat when new, therefore, 'flatness' of these buttons is not an indicator of age. These can be replaced. Those are held on with a pliable cement such as rubber cement or RTV.

Carefully clean the inside of the bottom. The dirt may be hiding markings. Also, examine the flat rim where the felt pads are. There may be markings here, or maybe just artifacts - unintentional blemishes when the unfired piece sat on debris.
