Do you need to match toilet and tub to cream or white vanity

I'm starting to plan my entire bath re-do. The one thing I have decided on is a Bain Ultra airbath tub. My bathroom is not large so it's a tub/shower combo. I was going to do a white or cream (close to white) vanity.

My question is if I go the cream color cabinet, do I then need to do all in a cream, such as the tub and toilet, sinks, etc.?

I'm afraid the white is too bright white and the cream is too creamy and won't look good with a white toilet and tub next to it. But on the other hand if I try to match the toilet and tub that might not work either, especially since they will be different manufacturers.

My vision is a bathroom with a white color vanity and tiles that are tan or beige, travertine look, white wainscoting and maybe beige or tan color wall above that.

Those of you who have a white in your bathroom, is it actually white or cream and did you worry about matching the tub and toilet to do with it?

I have a basically all white bathroom: white Hydro Systems tub, white ("cotton") Toto toilet, white Daltile Navelli Carrera Star tile, white Ralph Lauren ("grand") paint, white Restoration Hardware Hutton vanity with white/gray carrera marble. The whites are all similar, but differ slightly. The fixtures are slightly whiter than the tile, which is slightly whiter than the wall color, etc. Personally, I started with the white tile and worked from there. I went with white fixtures without comparing the colors, but then checked the color of the vanity, the marble, the wall color, etc. I think layering whites or whites and creams can look beautiful (even sophisticated).

Can you get a sample of the cream vanity and take it to a plumbing show room to get an idea of how the colors will differ? Can you add other touches of cream to the room with paint, tile (or accent tile), or linens? From your description, it sounds like you have a good mixture of crisp white (fixtures maybe? wainscoting) and warmer tones (tan or beige tiles, wall color). I suspect that because you have a mixture and not just a single element of warm or cool tones, it will look great. You could also search online or use sites like Houzz.com to try to find similar color combinations to see if you like them.

pricklypearcactus, your bathroom sounds really pretty. I do love the all white with cream and beiges together. I'm trying to make this reno as maintainence free as possible, i.e. no white grout. That is why I want to get a tan/beige/blend color tile.

My biggest concern is a cream color vanity next to a white toilet, and I really think I want to have the tub and toilet white instead of a cream color. The room is small so everything is pretty much next to each other.

I can order a sample directly from the manufacturer which is a good idea.

Definitely not! The Vessel sink is usually treated like the 'Jewel in the Crown' (Note, I didn't say Throne...LOL). this is your opportunity to find something completely unique...I would think maybe a copper sink would go with the colours you describe? I just googled copper vessel sink, and boy, I was overwhelmed with the beautiful choices! I linked to one with an overflow drain....very expensive...but it gives you an idea. I've even seen copper sinks in my local plumbing supply store...so they are fairly accessible. I think you can find lots on eBay too. Here is a link that might be useful: copper vessel sink.

My acrylic Bain Ultra air tub was set in a bed of mud with a piece of think plastic between the mud and tub. This was done for the ease of removing the tub if ever the need arises. It's as solid feeling on the bottom as my husband's Kohler cast iron tub. As for cleaning, that's a different story. You're not supposed to use anything abrasive on acrylic. Believe it or not, Scrubbing Bubbles is considered abrasive :( That's been my go to tub cleaner for years. To clean my acrylic tub RIGHT, I use Gel Gloss. It's a pain (literally!). You spray it on, let it sit, buff it and let it dry and then wipe the residue. When I'm in a pinch for time or physically limited, I will use Scrubbing Bubbles. There are very few non abrasive cleaners out there. One Bain Ultra suggested was Lemon scent Lysol. NOTHING works better than Scrubbing Bubbles!

I, too, like it with the wall color. I think a whiter tile will be too stark with your paint. I think that white fixtures, in bathrooms and kitchens are more of a neutral that "go" with the finishes we choose more as decor statements. I never see a white tub or toilet as "clashing" with the other finishes in a bathroom. I think you are good. White tub with ivory tile examples

I like the look of a simple backsplash using the countertop material rather than using a mosaic there. We used a 6" tall splash instead of 4". We just finished our master bath last fall and we used the Emser Lucente Lazzaro for one shower wall and the niches. Lazzaro has a lot of light greenish-gray-marble colors in it. Lucente comes in a lot of colors. My local showroom only had 2 colors on display, but the Emser website shows a lot more options. If you use Lucente I have one suggestion regarding installation. I don't know if this will occur with a different color, but with the Lazzaro color, there were some marble pieces that had black dots in them. That was fine as long as these dots occurred randomly, but it just so happened that some of them lined up in one area when being installed. The installer was so close to it that he didn't realize. His helper was standing further back and noticed. While things were still wet, he cut out the offending pieces with a utility knife and replaced them with a piece from another sheet. Just an installation detail I thought I'd mention. Our colors were: Emser Uptown Sugar Hill for field tile in 12 x 24" (it's a light gray/concrete color with some variation), Lucente Lazzaro linear mosaic for one wall and niches, QDI The Rock 3" x 3" floor tile (charcoal gray), marble countertop and tub surround with marble splashes, white vanity cabinet and tub skirt panels, a large linen cabinet stained in a medium brown tone and some floating shelves also stained, and existing wood floors. We thought a white and gray color plan might be too cold so we incorporated the greenish-gray mosaic and the stained cabinet, plus a teak bench in shower to bring in some warm elements.

The kitchen forum recently introduced me to Olioboard, a free "mood board" tool that allows you to make a collage of sorts using any images. If you have pictures (online or scanned) of the components you wish to use, perhaps you can explore using something like Olioboard or Paint or Photoshop to see how these items might look together.
