wintersow vs start seeds inside for earliest tomatoes?

Hi all,

Last year I grew tomatoes by starting seed inside at the end of Feb, and planting out in mid-April. I did not get any ripe tomatoes till early July (I live in Atlanta GA, zone 7b). This year I'd really like some earlier!

I now have frame/covers to set up some protection, so I should be able to plant out earlier than mid-April. I'll also choose some early varieties (under 60 DTM).

My question is whether to wintersow or to start indoors again. Any comparisons of the 2 methods would be greatly appreciated. I wintersow perennials and have had great results, I'm just not sure whether WS tomatoes would necessarily produce earlier than plants started inside.

Thanks for any advice!
