I have seen on several different sets of stainless steel flatware where it says it is dishwasher safe but no lemon detergents. I guess if they can damage flatware it can also damage SS interiors.?

I remember hearing that lemon dishwashing detergent isn't a good idea - don't think it's specific to Bosch. Just throw out what you have and get Cascade Complete - that's what many DW manufacturers recommend. I use it along with Jet Dry and everything comes out clean and dry in my KA dishwasher.

I use Cascade lemon in mine and it's fine. I haven't had an issue in a year-and-a-half. I switched to Seventh Generation for a while, trying to be more eco friendly. Not only did it not clean well, it turned all my aluminum stuff dark. I'm back to Cascade.

thank you for the responses. i was pretty sure he was talking about ss generally, and not specific to bosch, but wasn't sure. i meant to ask the guy that was helping me, but i got caught up in trying to decide between two stoves and forgot!guess i'll err on the side of caught -- it is just annoying because i see, in addition to the open one, i have a huge unopened bottle of lemon; i'll just give it to a neighbor.

glad-A Rep for Bosch told me once that what they recommend for their machines is Cascade powder. Just the plain one. NO GELS because the machine uses such little water that they dont dissolve(even though it is gel)and they stick and build up on everything including some of the sensors--that they had problems with that before. Also said they don't recommend Complete because it has rinse aid in it so when you use it plus Jet Dry that could cause "foaming issues". Now I am just telling you what I was told. I am 99% sure you could call them back and get a different Rep and they would give you a different story. You can never get the same story twice doesn't seem like.

thank you sparky. i actually looked up the manual on the web last night. they did not mention anything about lemon, but did say they recommend powdered detergent and not having a rinse-aid in the detergent itself. so that is in sync with what the rep told you. my lemon is gel, so now an easy decision.

Funny but I was talking to a repairman today about recommendations. He said that they usually don't don't recommend the use of gels in machines with SS interiors. He said it does not harm them but some of the gels do leave some discoloring as it drips down the door from the cup. He did say they have not seen it in every machine using gel. I am thinking this may be what they were talking about.
