please help me pick which Miele dishwasher is right for me?
Comments (16)One of the appliance folk can probably say with more certainty than I could but the model you chose looks like the Optima I had in my apartment, which was a great, great dw. I have a 10 y.o. Incognito though it dries very well. I've never opened the door. Here's what Miele says about how the drying system works -- it is not heated drying and requires no energy usage. "Most Miele dishwashers employ an advanced drying system that draws room temperature air through a port at the bottom of the appliance. This air is disbursed through special channels around the exterior dishwasher cavity and allows the interior water particles to condense against the walls of the dishwasher. During this process no external air is ever introduced inside of the dishwasher. This provides the most effective and hygienic drying possible." The reason the dishes get dryer on Saniwash is because that water is very hot and, provided the dw is fairly full, the condensation is quite complete. I have Ikea cabinets in the laundry room so I'm aware of precautions with those. Their plinth board in there is starting to peel though the cabinets are doing fine. I would just be aware and make adjustments needed. The DW does come with a front piece that is contiguous with the toe kick in my kitchen but that would depend on which Ikea cabinets are being used and how they are being installed. Crystal looks like a good choice to me....See MorePlease advise on appliance choices
Comments (9)Just about your disposal choice - first, kudos for choosing a batch feed which I prefer over a continuous feed disposal. I love my Waste King 3/4 hp batch feed disposal. It grinds everything, even chicken bones, seemingly effortlessly. And the Waste King's 10-year IN HOME warranty is amazing. However, my one disappointment is that its cover/stopper is hard black plastic. I would have rather had a stainless steel cover in my expensive sink. I think Insinkerator's batch feed cover/stopper is stainless steel, so even though I think my Waste King is the hardest working disposal workhorse there is (and no one has a better warranty!), for aesthetics, I might (although still not definitely) have chosen the Insinkerator. A couple more small items - the 1 hp Waste King you've chosen is really huge. Please make sure you have room for that size under your sink, and that your plumbing placement can accommodate it. My 3/4 hp has been big and powerful enough for my needs. Also, my installer told me to get the "3-bolt" version, rather than the "EZ" version you've chosen. Same machine, just installed slightly differently, and I think the price is the same. My GC preferred the 3-bolt installation, and I don't know why, but just thought I'd mention it....See Moremiele dimension repair problems, please advise
Comments (2)My goodness, you are much more patient than I would be. If I paid almost two thousand dollars for a dishwasher I would be really mad. Not to mention the hassle and damage to your home. I recommend going to social media. You can find Miele on Twitter at @MieleUSA. Start posting respectful but unhappy posts and see what happens. If you have a Facebook page tell your story - be polite but not too nice. Be fierce!! Stand up for yourself. Let us know if you get a response....See MoreMiele Dishwasher Help Please
Comments (12)I have a Miele Futura Classic. It replaced a higher end KitchenAid about 9 months ago. The KitchenAid contoller board was fried in a power drop. Haven't had that problem with the Miele. Mine is the simplest model with the cutlery tray. I wish I had gotten the Futura with the crystal cycle, but it wasn't in the budget. Classic works very well for 95% of the dishes. The turbo button on the normal cycle for smaller loads cuts the cycle time by about 60 minutes to 90 minutes. That includes the condensation dry. Be aware that neither the Bosch nor the Miele has the heated drying cycle typical in an American model. The model you're considering has some moveable tines on the adjustable racks that I found intriguing, but didn't have the hidden controls I need for the little people in the house. I appreciated the fact that my Miele salesman asked what kind of water I had in the house. If you have hard water, you might want to consider the on-board water softener option. We have a high iron content in our water so the stainless steel tub eliminates the red ring we get when tubs aren't scrubbed regularly. The sanitize cycle gives us the 155 degree rinse I wanted to sterilize everything. I don't put the pots in the dishwasher like many do, but you definitely can. I do put the filters from my range top vent hood in the dishwasher and it does a beautiful job de-greasing them. Good luck with your choice....See More- 15 years ago
