Transition from tiled ceiling over shower to painted ceiling
Comments (3)We removed the soffits in two bathrooms, and we tiled the ceilings over the tubs in both, too. In one we used matching bullnose tile as our border, or trim, in the other, our tile guy cut down marble tile/pieces to use as border/trim. The rest of the bathrooms/ceilings are painted (except over the vanities). It looks great, but I don't have any pics showing the ceilings in either bathroom. If I get a chance, I'll try to take some pics for you....See MoreTile for ceiling of stall shower? Bill and others please
Comments (4)mongo (and Bill!), you are a genius. I was just pondering this very problem of an alcove tub/shower with large format subway running brick pattern and what to do on the ceiling since no matter what the ceiling tile would be at right angles to something -- this totally solves my problem. Thank you, thank you....See Morehow to light shower without an attic or dropping the ceiling?
Comments (8)xedos- I took a look at your link and it looked like that was for a recessed ceiling light, not a wall light. If the OP is putting in any wall lights within the shower area, they need to be code-approved for wall mounting within a wet space. Personally, I would never mount an electrical fixture within a shower where it can be touched. If it were me, I'd go with either track lighting or a surface mounted fixture, which is approved for a shower area, and will be well away from water and people....See MoreHanging LED panel from drop ceiling- but there's a roof above the drop
Comments (7)Thanks @kayozzy. I'm a total newbie . Don't know why it didn't occur to me that there were joists along the line where the wires currently hang. So all I'd need are 3"x1/4" eye lags and hanging wire to strengthen the grid at certain points. Thinking about it more, though, if I were to hang the light directly from the joist via the wires (with a hole in the ceiling tile), I think it would sway unreasonably. I guess I'm back to hanging from the ceiling grid directly, and I'll just have to stay close to the points that are wire-supported from a joist. Does that sound reasonable for hanging 8lbs?...See Moremonzamess
