In this case the elect. fuel shut-off solenoid (item 1) in in place of and older design carb. that just has a bolt to hold the float bowl on. Just remove the wire and using a wrench on the hex portion of the solenoid. This solenoid will click and open when you turn the key to the on position moving the plunger that mowie talked about to let fuel into the carb. you can test this by simply removing it ground it out against the carb. (with the power wire connected)(or you can use a battery charger with the + connected to the elect. hook-up and the - grounded against the body of the solonoid) and turn the switch to the on position. you should see the plunger actuate out when power is supplied (12V) and retract when power (12Vs is removed) Other than that spraying the passages and seeing if float works is the same as older design carb. remember their will be two gaskets when you remove the float bowl, 1 on the solenoid to seal it against the carb. bowl(usually a crush type gasket that can be reused if it didn't get torn up during removal, 2 o-ring at the top of the fuel bowl which usually sticks to the carb. housing and can be reused if it didn't get damaged during removal. you want the o-ring on the carb. housing for installation and not on the bowl cause the bowl slips over the o-ring and will most likely get pinched if put inside the bowl when installing or have it on the carb. housing to alow the bowl to slip over the o-ring for a good seal job, but you still have to look and see if it's pinched out while tighen the solenoid. as with all o-ring installations you need some type of lubricant to ensure you don't pinch the o-ring when installing it, most use small amount of vasoline jelly. If you have pinched it fuel will leak when the float fills the bowl up. To prevent pinching of the o-ring install the bowl and hold it up against the carb while screwing the solenoid on hand tight, now look around the bowl where it meets the carb housing for the o-ring sticking out, if you don't see no protrusion the tighten the solenoid using a wrench on the hex part of the solenoid. Tighten as tight as it was coming off trying not to over tighten it so you don't smash the crush gasket on the solenoid creating leak. most people with general knowledge and do this, if you have fuel leak try to see if the fuel is coming from the bottom or the top of the fuel bowl? remove the bowl inspect the gaskets and try to reseal it again, if it still leaks then you will have to take it to a mechanic which IMO will cost you no more that taking in as long as you didn't lose or damage parts during the trial maintenance repair. kinda of long sorry.

The average landlord would not be pleased to know a party not on the lease is living in your apartment. This situation is leaving the landlord wide open to all kinds potential problems and liability. There are municipal codes for occupancy limits to consider, liability exposure, damage to the premises (which the bf has not contributed toward via the security deposit, and he therefore has no vested interest in caring whether the property is damaged in an argument, etc.) My leases have a specific clause that state the 'premises will only be occupied by' and then go on to specifically list each occupant by name (this includes minor children, even part-time) to prevent this very situation and allow me to legally enforce it. From a personal standpoint, you all are at a stage where you are building your future, and certain events at this juncture can and will impact your ability to maneuver through life after you graduate. You have the opportunity to build good references here that will eventually carry you to a nice apartment of your own or be a stepping stone to asking a lender for funds to purchase your own home. Get things in perspective: do you want a negative, transitory situation on the part of a college roommate to potentially ruin your chances at securing a decent roof over your head in the future? You would not believe the number of times I've heard, when reviewing someone's application and credit report, the statement "it was a dumb thing I did while I was in college", as if that makes it all OK and with an understanding wink the landlord will look the other way. Not necessarily so. I have seen credit reports that reflect a court Judgment from a prior living situation (typically for damages done to a residence). No way is that person going to be living in any properties I own. It's just too much of a risk to take as a property owner. And sadly, those same people can't find a decent landlord in town who will lease to them. So if bf gets drunk/violent enough to cause some major damage, the only way your landlord is going to recover the damages is to take bf and all those on the lease to court. So you would be party to it and named in the Judgment as well. If you and roommate A end up on that road, even indirectly, you're jeopardizing your future far worse than you can imagine. I'm not saying you'll never find a place to live. There are plenty of bug-infested, falling-apart dumps out there where the landlord only cares about the rent check. But if you want a nice, clean, well-maintained place to call home, you're at risk of losing it before you ever get it. Obviously this girl is not much of a friend, is drawn to bf's that are unhealthy for her (violence) and her willingness to put roommates at risk and/or jeopardize their future demonstrates the depth of her 'friendship'. Let the landlord know that Roommate B wants to bring in a 4th person that makes you and Rmmate A extremely uncomfortable. Tell him/her you're happy there, you want to stay, and ask for the landlord's help in blocking this because you can't reason with B. Stress to him/her you want no hard feelings. The landlord should appreciate this act of maturity and responsibility on your part and a simple letter should be enough to stop this situation in its tracks. (And if B ends up having to go because she won't budge, it's better for you in the long run, truly.) One last word of caution: be very careful about how much you reveal, if any, about the bf having already lived there in the past, the jail term, the arguments, etc. You might find too much information will make your landlord edgy enough to non-renew your lease.

It is VERY common for a store to repair an item rather than replace it. This is not because the store wants to shaft the customer. It is usually because the manufacturer will want to send replacement parts (ie, the base of a chair, seat of a sofa, side panel of a bed, etc.) rather than replace the entire piece. This is common sense. Why would any store replace an entire piece when a part can be ordered and make the existing piece new again. Most people have no clue how the industry works nor do they have a clue how most furniture is made and built. If you bought a new car and something was wrong right away, the dealer would repair it, not give you a whole new car. This is standard practice in the furniture industry as it should be. I have worked in furniture for over 30 years with 3 different companies. Repairing before replacing is not a scam and is standard practice in most instances. Most advice given online about how to deal with furniture stores is garbage, and most issues can be resolved with a simple repair of replacement part. If a leather sofa comes with a big scratch, why on Earth would the manufacturer replace the enitre piece when they could replace just a seat cushion, or even send a cut and sew piece of leather for a repair person. American consumers are spoiled and seem to think they can just demand whatever they like from a store and the store has to kiss their ass. Nope!

No, DD doesn't complain to me about her roommate, only once she said, "You can't believe anything she says."...She knows that I hate how she's being taking advantage of, but she does talk to her Dad about it sometimes, because he can listen without criticizing. Maybe I shouldn't of said, "legally"...wouldn't want the law involved...thought maybe there was a way to get the roommate to want to move out. Apparently, the two get along fine with each other. But their social life is opposites. 'Freeloader' likes to go out and party as if she doesn't have any responsibilties...DD doesn't allow any alcohol in her house, and she has her own circle of friends. Stargazer, if the roommate was a druggy, it might be easier to get her out, like you wrote about your former son in law's father did...not many druggies would go to the police complaining(?)...but, she isn't. Her attitude seems to be that DD would have to pay the rent anyway... so why not let her live there free! DD has always wanted to rent that house... she loves it, no kids... but pets are allowed...But... it's very expensive...with a huge yard and a nearby lake to enjoy...When it came up for rent again...the roommate promised to pay half...But, instead, took out personal loans, likely spent on her friends and whatever she pleased...Then bought a new car...and tells DD that she doesn't have any money... Actually not contributing a penny to DD. What is so aggraving to me is...DD will likely lose her 'dream home'...She has a lot of furniture...All the freeloader has are her clothes and a cellphone. If she would only leave (When what freezes over??)...DD has another friend that would move in with her, who has a good paying job, and seems very reliable. We could help her with paying the rent...but that means also helping the freeloader live free-rent... who had once lived with her sister in a small, cramped house. Her boyfriend is a freeloader too...He doesn't own a car, lives with his aunt for now , and she taxi's him everywhere and buys him cigarettes, etcs., DD has never asked us for a penny, or for any help...but I try to help in some ways that won't benefit the freeloader...I buy her cat's food and cat litter when I buy for ours...Sometimes, I insist on paying her cellphone bill because she bought me a cellphone too...and is paying for it...She thought I needed one...Occasionally, DH takes her truck and gets the oil changed for her and fills the gas tank. But it's still a struggle and she doesn't complain to us...But, DH recently told me that DD had to drop her Internet and Cable TV. She's our only child and we've always been overly protective (?) of her...because she's an adult doesn't change that fact.
