Miele oven and speed oven or Electrolux?

We bought a house and are starting a complete kitchen remodel. I was all set to order the Miele Master Chef oven and Miele speed oven. Then I read several posts on here about recent problems with temperatures on Miele ovens. Now I am not sure. Does anyone have a Miele Master Chef oven they have purchased in the last year that they love and doesn't have any problems? Would I be better off going with Electrolux?

My DH thinks all of our appliances need to be from the same company. I haven't been able to convince him otherwise. I was getting the Miele gas cooktop, DW and ovens and keeping the existing old SZ with new panels. Help!!!

Considering how many Miele units are sold all around the globe, there are relatively few complaints about the temp problem. Although it probably is the only Miele appliance I can think of that there seems to have been some issues with.(Miele is on top of the food chain) I have never heard of any temp problems of the Miele ovens installed in my clients homes. The elux apparently is good too. I personally would go with a Miele, although I have to admit I have never owned a wall oven (and likely wont), but I have installed some in projects I have managed.

I have had the Miele Speed oven and 30 inch Master Chef for about 10 months. Love the Speed Oven and have had the temperature problem with the Master Chef. It took two visits from the repair folks and replacement of a $500 mother board (covered by the warranty), but the Master Chef oven seems to be working well now. Actual oven temperature is now spot on to the setting (before it was 30-50 degree low).

While the oven was clearly defective, I do note that there is a learning process to using the Miele. Coming from a gas oven with bake and broil as the only options, it took me a while to realize and learn that "bake" on the Miele only really works for 375 and lower applications and the "surround" setting is used for higher temperatures.

If looks are important, I also note that the two ovens are beautiful together.

This is not a direct answer to your question but something you may want to think about. Do you use your regular microwave alot during meal preperation? I do, to heat leftovers, cook, etc. I hate washing pots and I don't like cooked food standing around while something else is in the process of being cooked. I have an excellent convection microwave as my "second oven" which I can use to do almost everything I can do in my large oven. However, I came to realize that if I use my conv/micro wave as my primary oven to cook my main dish, then I can't use it as my microwave to warm the veggies, etc. at the same time. I often laugh when I think, "wow, this is great, I need another microwave". If you cook like me, you may want to consider this. Just a thought.

Kind of puts the parts-and-service issue in perspective.... Smeg obviously trying to crack the US market now; whether they'll succeed we don't know. As for the aforementioned Smeg dishwashers rebranded as GE (and later DCS), that's how Bosch and LG got started in the US too. Bosch entered the US market in the '90s with only three products (all high-end dishwashers) and we all know what happened since. LG used to just rebrand their microwave ovens for others (and sell a few themselves under the Goldstar brand); it took less than a decade for them to become a major contender in all appliance product categories. Samsung didn't sell any major appliances here until about a decade ago under their own name. Meanwhile, several once-big US manufacturers have disappeared or been swallowed by bigger fish.

First , let me be the FIRST to say, I do not claim to be a Kitchen Designer or Kitchen Architech, alto I did design our curved kitchen--soooo----keeping the "above" in mind, here are 2 things that would "bother me" about stacking a Miele Speed Oven over a wolf Oven. (1) The wolf seems to have a bluish to white display, whilst the Miele Speed Oven is definitely on the orange-reddish side. That would probably really bug me. (2) The Wolf Control panel-display is about the same width as the black & glass area of the door (IE appears as "full width"), whilst the Miele has that smaller window type display area. Again one being directly above the other probably would bug me a bit. As I said , there are far more talented ppl here (design-wise) so maybe they can chime in. To Me the Elux Speed Oven would be a far better match (Lookswise),It has the full width display/control area the display (when lit is blue) and only a white clock shows when the display disappears (if not used for a couple of mins). The Elux Speed oven does not broil and uses a turntable---not a problem for me, but of course , I can't answer for you. You can see both Speed Ovens in use baking potatoes, Mojavean with his Miele and Me with my Elux. I put a link to the GW Post, where you can find The Great Potato Race. Miele CSO to stack with 24" Miele speed oven or 30" single oven?

You can never have enough ovens. We have a 30" oven in addition to a 24" CSO and a 24" SpeedOven (incidentally, this is a wonderful combination). And still, there has been at least one meal, when I had to add a fourth improvised oven by using the gas grill on the deck. I also had to use a portable warming chest, and had to prepare a careful schedule for when to use which appliance. But then, I was cooking multiple courses for a gathering of more than 100 guests. Realistically though, 99% of the time, the combination of those two ovens should be enough. You might just have to do a little bit of planning on the rare occasions that you make huge amounts of food. But if budget is flexible, adding the SpeedOven wouldn't hurt. It's a good oven in its own right, and it can always serve as a great overflow option, when things get really tight. Is it mandatory? No, not at all? Will you enjoy having bought it? Yes, probably. It's a convenient luxury, if you regularly cook a lot.

Is there that much difference between a speed oven and a microwave with convection? I'll be buying appliances for a new home and have just started looking into this. Want to use the microwave as a second baking option (convection). What in addition to this would a speed oven do? Also, are the main options for a speed oven the Miele, Elux and advantium?

Just went shopping for speed ovens this afternoon. Apparently Jenn-Air and Thermador also have their own versions of the speed oven. I don't know anything about the performance or track record of either brand perhaps someone else may have some experience with these.

Daveliv, thank you for the info. It is good to know that your oven now works properly and they took care of you.

Joc6820, it is my understanding that a speed oven can use microwaves and heat at the same time. A convection microwave can not. I had a convection microwave in my last house.
