I use a Dobie pad with a little bit of dish soap (I like Seventh Generation Unscented Dish Liquid), wiping with the grain, then wipe with damp microfiber cloth, and if I feel the need to, I'll wipe with a dry microfiber cloth. I don't like "stainless steel cleaners" because most tend to be heavily scented, and also, why spend money on an additional cleaner (and use up undersink storage space) when the Dobie pad and dish soap work as well if not better. Edit: The above is for appliances and hood. For my stainless steel sink, I use Bar Keepers Friend in the sink. I also use Bar Keepers Friend on my stainless steel pots and pans. I have all stainless, and I really don't find it to be a big problem. The top of the dishwasher get smudged -- likely because my hands are usually wet when the door is being closed -- but since the dishwasher is on the inside of the island facing the back wall of the kitchen (as opposed to on the back wall of the kitchen facing the island) and because I'd have to squat to see the smudges, it's really not a problem. I think this was a happy accident of our layout; if I could see the dishwasher while sitting at the island, the smudges might drive me crazy. The refrigerator is more visible (it's bigger), but I find the handles get messier than the stainless front. Again, it's a messy hand problem, and the problem would exist without the stainless. As for the oven and microwave, I find that the glass control panels get smudges more than the stainless steel. Finally, the VAH is sloped so is collects dust, but that's easily controlled by swiping it with a cloth once a week.

I have had terrible time cleaning the doors of my LG side by side SS refridge. I read through all the posts (mostly about water stains on SS dishwashers) and went home last night to give some a try. (BTW I was also looking at cleaning for glass top stoves) I tried most of the suggestions and although I could get most of the water stains off I could not completely remove the "film" that was clouding different areas of the doors....nothing completely took care of this....until I tried Cerama Bryte Cooktop Cleaner (which I think I actually saw recommended for the glass cook tops on a different post). Wiped it on with a clean dry soft cloth, used some extra effort on the cloudy areas, wiped off with a damp clean soft cloth, dried with a new soft cloth then sprayed with Weiman's Stainess Steel Cleaner and Polish, wiped that off and buffed with yet another clean soft cloth (luckily I have a lot of those). It looks better than new, water marks, spots, finger prints and those pesky cloudy areas are all gone and it looks shiny, clean and beautiful. I am so pleased. Although it may sound like a lot it was actually not a great deal of work and the finished product was worth the effort.

I have the Ruvati single bowl sink. Pros: It's big and holds a lot of dishes. It's sturdy and insulated well enough for me. I like the ledge for accessories. Cons: It has a flat bottom, so I chase food around the sink with the sprayer trying to get food particles down the drain. It has tight corners and hard to clean. The colander has wood, so I'm not sure how long that will last and it has large holes and is open on each end. That prevents you from using it for anything small, like straining spaghetti. I suppose you could use it for larger cut vegetables. I personally have it on the ledge and use it to set my liquid soap bottle, scrubbies and to hang my dishcloth to dry on the edge. I sometimes rinse my flatware and place in there prior to loading the dishwasher. I bought an after market, fine mesh colander that expands to fit the ledge and I store it in my cabinets. The grid for the bottom of the sink I thought was a good idea when I bought the sink. I hate it. The space between grids is too large to prevent anything from falling through. It gets food gunk on it, so I would be constantly scrubbing it and have to take it out to clean the sink. I don't use it anymore. If I could have a do-over, I would not purchase it again. You spend a lot of time at the sink, so allow enough in your budget to get a sink that will make using it less of a chore.
