Fisher Paykel Refrigerators
Comments (23)Hi, Redhead. We've had ours for a month or so, so not a long history. We like it so far, even though we are still learning where things go-- I didn't realize how ingrained the tracks in my brain were until the 20th time I found myself standing in front of an open fridge wondering if the milk went on the right door or the left one... We had almost no choice in fridges if we did not want to rip out a wall of cabinets. I had no idea that refrigerators had grown so tall in recent years, but apparently they have. The guys at the appliance store told us they sell a lot of F&P to people in Seattle with old houses for that very reason. A friend of mine did the same, only she chose the single door rather than french door. She is happy with it as well. I just hope they hold up over time-- too soon to tell....See MoreFisher & Paykel refrigerator vs. GE Cafe French Door fridge?
Comments (8)Hi orangkitchenbgone, Sorry to say but I was extremely disappointed when I checked out the back of that box. Their pdf info states that depth including door was 23+, which had me excited about the prospect of a built in looking unit under 72" high. I went to Pacific Sales, pulled the unit out to check the back and was dismayed to see a FULL WIDTH ~1 inch deep box at the very bottom of the unit, roughly 6-12 " high or so ( I cant remember the height since I was so angry). This box was exactly where I'd have the line for water and recessed electrical. Also, the Mfr. wants a ridiculous amount of airspace on all sides. From the box to the gasket was over 24 1/2", about 1" more than most (23 5/8 ave) and the door added another 4 inches or so. For me, every inch counts when I want a CD unit......See MoreFisher & Paykel Refrigerators
Comments (12)I have a CD F&P bottom freezer fridge w water on the door. I cannot recommend this brand. The fridge door will not stay open unless it is swung completely to the extent of the the hinge's arc - really, really wide. It is a huge drag - every time I open the thing it starts closing as I grab a second item. Shortly after purchase, I found a piece of plastic on the floor. It was part of a hinge. Not too long after that, the freezer drawer would not slide properly. Service was called and neither could be fixed. I still don't know to this day if there was anything wrong w the hinge. The repair person said it wouldn't affect the door. He spent a long time leveling the the fridge but it did no good. Also, the stainless seems to be of low durability. It's just my husband and myself in the home. We're both rather careful, yet somehow we have a couple of small dents that we can't recall causing. It's too bad. It's a good looking fridge inside and out. I like the sparse interior without all the bulbous plastic. Very poorly rated by that consumer magazine. Forgot to mention the weird sounding compressor. Has quite the noticeable start up noises....See MoreLooking for reviews of Fisher Paykel appliances.
Comments (45)I've only spent a couple hours so far researching F&P for a potential range purchase, and what I've found seems to imply that the company has taken a nosedive in the last few years. Consumer affairs dot com had the company rated at something like four out of five stars, but all the reviews in the last three or four years were all one- or two- stars, mostly for complaints about impossibility of getting parts, service, or response of any kind. I was really disappointed, since I just saw a FP range that I really liked, and was thinking of buying. One person claimed that the FP policy was to only carry parts for FOUR years, so that's a terrible policy change for the worse right there. BIG middle finger to their customers. So it looks to me like they have good engineers and designers, but enough bad management and bad policy to tip the scales in the wrong direction. That leaves too much to luck, given the price point. Too bad, really......See Moretyj.portraitkitchens
