Fisher Paykel refrigerator noise?
Comments (11)Hi Everyone, I'm also faced with the small refrigerator conundrum. What's the deal with all of these ginormous refrigerators? I can't believe there is only one in the entire world that is comparable in size to my 25 year old kenmore side by side. To add to my dilemma, my refrigerator does not slide in between cabinets, but rather is at the end of a countertop. Therefore, the left side of the refrigerator is exposed, as well as a bit of the right. I'm looking for stainless, and would like to stay away from the black sides that so many of them seem to have (I have white cabinets.) I've narrowed it down to the Fisher Paykel that is discussed here, and the KitchenAid Architect Series II KBRS19KTSS 18.5 CuFt, which has a gray cabinet, rather than stainless. I'm leaning towards the Fisher Paykel, but the reviews on the Lowe's website are negative. You guys seem to really like yours. Could I get more feedback please? How is the stainless finish on the sides of the refrigerator? It's a bit of a bummer that it's not energy star ($200 rebate), especially since the difference in operating cost/year is negligible...but I can live with that. It's a great looking fridge, I guess I just need a bit more encouragement to buy. So thanks for any input you can give!...See MoreFisher and Paykel refrigerators
Comments (7)We have a new Fisher & Paykel fridge, but it's a different model than the one you're looking at. Ours is a single-door bottom freezer one with no icemaker (the saleslady thought I was nuts). It's only been a couple of months, but so far so good. The interior design is really nice -- it seems less "plasticky" than some others -- and the finish does indeed resist fingerprints. We have young children, so we have tested that part out pretty well. It would be nice if they offered the option of an internal icemaker without any door dispenser, but oh well. (We did not want a door dispenser.) Double check the door dispenser of the one you're looking at. I was under the impression that none of the F&P's had ice through the door, only water. It might not matter to you, but it's just as well to know before you take the leap. I will say that the ice cube trays that came with ours are about 10 times easier to get the ice out of than any other ice cube trays I've ever used. Good luck with your decision. Ours was easier because a single-door fridge (not FD) works best with our kitchen layout, and I definitely wanted the freezer on the bottom, and I also very much wanted counter-depth so I could reach the cabinet above the fridge. And there is exactly one manufacturer of single-door bottom-freezer counter-depth fridges under 72" tall available in the US. So all we had to decide was whether or not to get the water dispenser/icemaker and whether to get the one with the freezer drawer or the one with the freezer door. (We got the one with the door and it's very cool. So to speak.)...See MoreFisher & Paykel Refrigerators
Comments (12)I have a CD F&P bottom freezer fridge w water on the door. I cannot recommend this brand. The fridge door will not stay open unless it is swung completely to the extent of the the hinge's arc - really, really wide. It is a huge drag - every time I open the thing it starts closing as I grab a second item. Shortly after purchase, I found a piece of plastic on the floor. It was part of a hinge. Not too long after that, the freezer drawer would not slide properly. Service was called and neither could be fixed. I still don't know to this day if there was anything wrong w the hinge. The repair person said it wouldn't affect the door. He spent a long time leveling the the fridge but it did no good. Also, the stainless seems to be of low durability. It's just my husband and myself in the home. We're both rather careful, yet somehow we have a couple of small dents that we can't recall causing. It's too bad. It's a good looking fridge inside and out. I like the sparse interior without all the bulbous plastic. Very poorly rated by that consumer magazine. Forgot to mention the weird sounding compressor. Has quite the noticeable start up noises....See MoreRecent experience with fisher paykel refrigerator?
Comments (2)Haier bought F/P in 2012 with the intent of expanding it as a premium brand. A current model review would be useful to see how that's going. Haier also owns GE Appliance....See MoreLE
