Bicyclegirl, at this point I am not willing to spend any more money on repairs. The key electronic parts of the oven were all exchanged two years ago. Essentially it is a lemon that needs to be replaced. As far as dadoes raving reviews of FP appliances go, of course, there is a range of experiences between consumers. I have no experience with FP washing machine, dish drawer, etc., but I can say that the performance of my refrigerator is at best marginal. It simply does not cool enough. This is under-written by a recent US consumer reports that did not include the FP refrigerator in the test results because they were too pathetic (I believe July 2013 edition). And, for that matter, my cook top's ignition is on auto-pilot and will just fire away when a certain plate it on, but I am not willing to have this repaired at this point. So there you have it, 0 for 3 on FP appliances, with the oven the absolute worst.

1) Operational sounds of any appliance are subjective to the individual. I find my DishDrawer to be acceptably quiet. A visitor in the past said he didn't notice it running at all, another did hear it but remarked about it being quiet. The pump produces a hushed whirring sound during wash/rinse recirculation but is noticeably louder during drain periods (2 to 3 mins each) when running at a higher RPM. There are some water spraying sounds which vary depending on the characteristics of a given load. Several faint bursts of a high-frequency humming/whistling sound occur during the final rinse when rinse aid is dispensed, assuming that characteristic hasn't changed on the newest models.

We purchased the Fisher Paykel French door counter depth with water dispenser last year. We have always gotten side by sides with water/ice dispensers, but decided to go with a French door. We decided on FP based on the recommendation of the owner of the appliance store. It was pretty evident that the French door refrigerators with ice dispensers had significant issues. He has had good luck with the FP; it was a bonus having the water dispenser on the door. We bought it sight-unseen, as it was for a shore property, and we weren't there at the time. I was leery of going with FP, as we had huge headaches with Dishdrawers that we had in the past, but I was reassured that he hadn't seen any issues with the refrigerators. So far, no issues. Complaints: 1) the ice maker is pretty skimpy, not cranking out cubes even when set on Ice Boost. 2) the slide-out bins in the fridge are split in half, but are in a single drawer, so both the fridge doors have to be open to pull the drawers out.

Following. I have a F&P freestanding fridge, and have specified the same in a number of kitchen designs. Everyone seems perfectly happy with them and I'd say mine is as close to flawless as it gets. Have never seen a built-in model in-person though. I understand F&P was recently acquired by GE, for whatever that's worth. I know they have added a lot of new configurations to their product line. Another observation about built-in appliances in general: they're a huge pain to install, and the panel-ready idea is most sophisticated on the highest-end brands. Essentially, if you really want a great looking, trouble-free, fully paneled fridge, your best bet is Sub Zero, that that's out of the reach of most people. A number of cabinetmakers have told me this over the years. A client will opt for a less expensive "built-in" and/or "Panel ready" appliance, and even though they've spent a good deal of money, the logistics to make the thing actually look right are super complicated. So they end up with something ugly, or a lot of extra expense in the installation. Sometimes both. I think it's for this reason that I've really come to like the plain vanilla F&P free-standing fridges. They look sleek and work well at a fraction of the price of something truly built-in. I personally think most freestanding fridges are hideous. The curved front and brushed stainless just look really distracting in a lot of otherwise well-designed kitchens. And don't even get me started on the monstrous through-wall dispensers! Anyway, I'll be interested to see how the F&P works out, if you decide to go that route! Good luck :-)
