Painting Concrete basement wall
Comments (3)For the walls, I would just use a gloss latex house paint. Gloss will be easier to clean and also make the room seem a bit larger. Brush on the first coat to make sure don't miss any surface imperfections, and you could roll on the second coat with a fairly thick (1/2") roller. For a small laundry room, I'd probably go with a single sheet of vinyl flooring, but the Allure looks like it'd do the job. Comments (1)Our basement was the same. My husband used either Zinsser or Drylock (I can't remember which he decided on) and applied it with a gigantic brush (important rather than superficially coating with roller)-getting into all the tiny holes, etc. It worked well and really brightened up the whole basement. I'm not sure if I would place wallpaper on a ceiling. The best way to really do this is spackle-no fun-but helps even out flaws....See MoreCleaning basement ceiling joists to prep for painting.
Comments (2)If you just want to "clean it up" I suggest renting an appropriate-sized air cleaner with HEPA filter (cubic feet = length x width x height). Your're going to run it 24/7 for a week. Rent a compressor with a large enough tank so you're not waiting for "more air". Every day hit everything with the compressed air (floor, walls, ceiling). Remember to cover any furnace "air intakes" in your basement. Wear a paper filter mask. After a week you should be able to spot treat any areas of mold or mildew. Now...make sure your basement is DRY, purchase a dehumidifier if needed....See MoreLarge bare wall in basement
Comments (22)no I don't have a fireplace. I was thinking that the whole basement could be rearranged and maybe have one of those electric fireplaces against the wood wall. But this seems like a some other day idea lol. For Beverly, I was thinking of not making it quite as big as the one I showed, just filling a portion of the space and then leaving the rest for an area of pictures. I am a geologist, so the shelving would likely have a lot of rocks on it :) (And I love plants too). Something like this .......See Moreschreibdave
