Peruvian Carved Wooden/Leather 18th Centruy Chair...?

I have recently found myself to be the owner of quite a uniqie chair...

It was given to me by a friend, as he was moving to a new apartment, and could not keep it. I have no idea how old it is, where it is from, or really even what kind of wood it is made of. I will do my best to describe it, and have pictures though i do not know how to post them.

It is rather large, and in AMAZING condition.. It looks as though it has never been even touchedÂ.literally. It is made from what looks like one or two large pieces of wood, rather than carved from many small pieces. The carving is ornate and covers the entire chair-legs, arms, back, etc. The seat is made from a very thick piece of finely tooled, yet perfectly preserved, leather.

My best guess is that it is 19th century, and probably from Peru, or somewhere else in South AmericaÂ

Please help!

I can email the photos if someone can post them for me...SORRY!

Thanks so much!

Best,

Melissa
