Hi dadoes, When you turn it off completely ... ... that's just before you move out, I imagine? Up here in Ontario, there's a big difference between turning the thermostat to the lowest level and turning the furnace off completely (unless you have no freezable stuff in the house). At lowest level, and in cold weather you'd better have someone check the place every couple of days to ensure that the furnace is operating, the temp usually runs around 55 degrees - stuff doesn't freeze. Throw the switch, the furnace goes to sleep, within a few days, freezable stuff has friz. When daughter and hub. bought a house that had been unoccupied for a while several years ago, the bank swore that heat had been maintained. Yeah? Well, if so, how to account for pipes, having frozen, now be leaking in about 8 places in the walls?? Big difference between thermostat turned to lowest level and throwing the switch, in many areas. Hope you can find all of the hot air that you need (at this time of year). ole joyful

cat_mom, I'm good. You're kind to ask! My kitchen is finished except for the backsplash, so I haven't posted pictures yet. I was burned out from the remodel and decided to put the backsplash on the back burner. I love your glass tile, and almost purchased it, but my space is traditional, so I second guessed myself. With the kids heading back to school on Monday, I'm ready to get this wrapped up soon and even begin a few minor redecorating projects, so I enjoy lurking here. Good to see you around as well!

Thank you everyone for the encouraging words and wonderful compliments! The party went great :-) Now it's time to make the grocery list for the family party next weekend, no calling the caterer next time...lol. But at least my house is ready! So many of you asked about the door sprays. I found those in a booth at an antique mall early in the fall. They were an autumn arrangement and I liked the look of them so much that after Thanksgiving I just added the sprigs of red berries and decided they would work through the Christmas season too. The holder is a cone shaped metal (tin?) with florist foam stuck down in it to insert all the dried leaves and stems. After I bought the arrangements I saw the holders sold separately at another shop. They were $15 each with no arrangement. I took a close-up picture and another one of how I mounted it on the door. I used the 3m Command hooks that peel and stick on. Then I used a little spot of the Bluestick putty like teachers used to stick things on the walls to anchor them toward the bottom since they are so tall. It seems to be working. They've stayed up since October. sippimom...You asked about the living room rug. It's Karastan and the design is Paysage. Whenever you look up Paysage it looks nothing like the real thing. My living room picture is an accurate representation of the colors in it. Thank you for the compliments :-) You must be somewhere down around the Oxford area? Can't wait to see those pics. We have a Halloween Hoot day at golf (my least favorite day). When I told my friend who was the tournament director that I might not be able to come because I had to stay home and finish my book for book club, she had a fit. So I went. This year was the Monster Ball. You didn't really have to get dressed up, just wear black and as she put it, be a little creative with the black. I wore a long black skirt over my black golf skirt, fancy black socks, heels and a black shirt with a vampire on the front. Spider web earrings and a feathered mask to complete the outfit. She really didn't know who I was because I really don't dress up for halloween. She was shocked! I was stripping it off on the way to our Tee box.
