Help, invaded by tree frogs

When I drained my pond last year, I rescued the tadpoles, and they thanked me by jumping on my pants legs, and climbing on my finger this spring. I thought that was cute. I enjoyed their soft purring/cooing sound last summer,(PEEPERS). But this year they are LOUD,(tree frogs)! 200 LOUD tree frogs, and one or two soft peepers, you bearly can hear.

My frogs start 'shouting' at 8:15 p.m., and yell until 12:30 p.m. All lights are out, as my husband goes to bed at 7, (he is a bus driver who has to get up at 3 a.m.) I keep things quiet so he can sleep, but I can't here the t.v. over the tree frogs! I have both peepers and common gray tree-frogs. The first year I loved them, they were soft and soothing. But this year they have gone wild! I have so many tree-frogs that I have taped them on my phone, because no one will believe how loud they are! They are NOT cute anymore.

What can I do to send the tree frogs packing, ( and hopefully keep the soothing peepers)? My husband said he already saw a snake, (fortunately I have not). Should I borrow my sons cat? They are ridiculously loud! When I got outside to stomp on the deck the close ones are around, they stop, But as I get to the door to come back inside, they start again...grrrr. Any ideas?

well, there are a few reasons frogs like your yard, the biggest is water source, remove the water source and the frogs will go away. second is food source, but I do not know how to remove that without harming the frogs with pesticides or something of the sor

Greetings, I have a 22' X 24' greenhouse and late this summer I was given a couple green tree frogs that were supposed to take care of my fly, cricket, moth & aphid problems in my greenhouse. I know they are not water frogs, but I do have a pond in my greenhouse which helps keep the humidity quite high. My concern is this: I'm keeping the greenhouse at 40 deg in the evenings and it reaches 60 - 80 deg during the day. I have a heat lamp but they do not sit by the heat lamp. Since the temps started reaching 40 deg in the evening I've not seen the frogs at all. I'm wondering if they did not bury themselves in the soil of one of my plants. Do you think they hibernating? How long can they hibernate? They are not eating the crickets I'm putting out. Does anyone have any ideas on making certain my little tykes make it through the winter here? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. ~Tj~

I think it is perfectly on-topic. Frogs (and toads) are wonderful garden companions and help control the pest population by eating tons of pests. Of course, the downside is that the frogs also might devour some of the beneficial insects too. With rampant flooding all around us, we are getting tons of new wildlife showing up in the yard looking for high ground, food and water. The million frogs that showed up in May laid eggs so we're going to have a billion frogs by the end of the summer. Early in the morning, there's so many frogs in the garden that you have to walk slowly to give them time to jump out of your path. I wish we could train the frogs and toads to sit on top of the porch light and eat all the little pests buzzing around it at night. Like George, I leave little brushy corners (and small flat pans of water in dry years) for the toads. It is impossible to have too many frogs or toads in the garden, except that a lot of snakes come to the garden to eat them, so the population never really gets way out of control.

THANK YOU for taking the time to respond - Great link! My CTF's have indeed decimated the population of geckos, other frogs, lizards, and ....come to think about it, just about EVERYTHING else! U of F has always been a great resource, and although I resisted physically removing my little invaders, it sure has been far quieter since then! I can step outside my porch at night now and hear the sound of their enthusiasm 8 houses away! Amazing vocal capacity for such a little critter. And yes, I DID notice a burning sensation on my hands (through the gloves) when I picked them up. Many thanks again...... sorry to be so long in responding, fhfchrish.

I love frogs too much, made Ã¢ÂÂÃ¢ÂÂme feel happy and energetic, but I am afraid of their voice a bit cause it make me feel of some of the gloom
