Yes, Rhizo is right (again). The ants panic when the eggs are exposed to light, and grab them and carry them off. Somewhere. Chickens will eat the eggs. Mine won't eat the ants, though. They say they are too vinegary. Sue

That Holly may well have Fall Webworms the larva of which can be whiteish in color depending on wha tthey are feeding on. The eat the leaves from your trees, or shrubs, but generally do not harm them since the leaves are getting ready to drop, or stop producing nurtients for the winter, anyway. While the webs are ugly they are not anything really harmfull unless the leaves are stripped too early, too often. Early in the life of these wee buggers they can be controlled with sprays of Bacillus thuringiensis - Kurstaki, up to 3 weeks old. There are some indications that Neem Oil products are effective later as are pyrethrin based sprays, but both of these are very broad spectrum poisons that need to be used with great care. Dydee - Welcome to Gardenweb! Congrats on getting the photos. It's unusual to see an albino bird, much less photograph it. There are some interesting photos if you look on Google's images feature. There's an albino peacock that's beautiful. If you're wanting to learn how to post photos, you can find lots of helpful info by searching on gardenweb. A lot of people use Photobucket.
