Made the mistake & planted a cute little white bird of paradise too close to the lanai. 1 year later, it turned into a monster & grew way too close to the screening. We were told to cut it down (we are new to tropical plants) so we did just that a few months ago. The part we cut down is now happy in it's new home, far from where it can do damage. Problem is now we are stuck with this "stump" & the stump is sending out brand new shoots right out of the middle along with some babies on the sides that are getting almost as big as the original plant was.
Can someone tell me if we should leave this alone & just keep trimming it or can we remove it forever?
