I was going to call them to find out and then this came in. Their sale is still on :-)

SCHUMACHERÂS Greetings

Thanksgiving is past, and we are steadily moving toward Christmas. It is hard to believe that it is almost here.

This is to wish all our customers Happy Holidays, and to let everyone know that our winter break will be starting the week before Christmas and ending January 11th.

We wanted everyone to know so there were no concerns about us being open or not.

So, mark it down and come visit us as often as you like. The dates we will be CLOSED are December 20th, 2009 through January 11th, 2010.

Our prices are still half price on our gallon pots.

4 inch are a $1.00, and 5 gallon plants are $12.00.

You can plant all winter, and give all the plants a big head start on spring next year.

Days of operation and hours of operation for winter months are: Tuesday thru Saturday 10 am until 4 pm. We are closed on Sunday and Monday.

Have they been getting plant shipments in? I thought that sale I went to months ago was the end of the season sale, lol

Hahaha! I love that kind of enthusiasm! :-) Let's call Tuesday and find out. I thought I might stop by about noon Wednesday on my way to a meeting in Austin.

other than a alignment problem, sounds like to me when the grease gets alittle thick (includes the rollers in the tracks, they resist more when it cold also IMO)it don't have enough HP. What is the HP rating? Does it make different sounds when it stops? does it throw the circuit breaker or does it just stop??. It also maybe pulling too much amps and the overload system maybe shutting down. Do you have to push a reset buttom when it stops ro get it going again? sounds like you need to get out the multi-meter and check the amps see if it's within spec's for starters, If that's not it I would inspect the rollers see if you can find couple dragging pulling the HP down and the amps up. report back with the findings, there maybe electrical engineer lurking here??

CAthy, I'm happy as long as the tank heater is keeping up, I HATE chopping ice from the tank. Actually, chopping it isn't the bad part, it's dipping the ice chunks out with a hay fork, I always get wet, and it's cold. Ugh. Hate that..... Wind chill factors of 20 to 30 below zero ought to tell me, I've made a wooden cover for the stock tank with a hole just big enough for the animals to put their heads through, I'm hoping it helps, at least enough to keep the tank unfrozen. We set a bale this afternoon, a big round bale will last 3-4 days, so hopefully it'll last until Wednesday morning, when it breaks a little and will be back up to a high of 17, and no below zero temps. I can do everything else manually, but the tractor doesn't always want to start when it's that cold and I need the tractor to move those big bales. As for school, they will probably not have school Monday or Tuesday, we have so many rural students that ride busses and it's just not safe to have small children out in that weather. When it hits zero they are not allowed to go outside for recess and when it's colder, they eventually give up and close school. Annie

You may need to adjust the force. Force adjustment controls are located on the right side panel of the motor unit and regulate the amount of power required to open and close the door. Weather conditions can affect the door movement so you may need to occasionally make an adjustment. It appears that your door likes to be warm!!! (Hope this helps and keep us updated.)

I love Matelasse, I have several coverlets and bedspreads in various colors and prints of Matelasse. I will add a light weight fleece blanket in the winter. I don't like a lot of covers, I generally am not under the covers much. I will have the cleaning lady take the blanket off this week. Might change to a new pretty summery print Matelasse I bought but have never used yet. I currently have my favorite one which is raspberry color on the bed. I find one of those with the sheets is just right, I prefer a very cool room. The ceiling fan is on high all year, plus I have a 10" fan that is aimed at my head on all the time, we have a good size metal antique style fan on a stand that I have on a fair amount of time. I must have lots of air movement on me, my Dad was the same way. I feel like I can't breathe if I don't. I really think that we could have gone with out the blanket this winter since it never got very cold.

Okay, we can find out. I don't know if I can make it Wed. That is the scheduled day for the new HVAC system. I don't think DH would take off to be here so I can go nursery hopping, LOL

It was a good day to go to Schumacher's :-) ... well, it was warm in the greenhouse! I snooped around in there while Bob walked the dogs.

I got some things for gifts; for instance blooming sweet almonds and salvias in four inch pots. I'll transfer them to gallon pots and put a ribbon around them for Christmas gifts. Also got a couple more evergreen acacias. It is such a beautiful graceful multitrunked tree all year around I had to have more. All those were $1.00 each.

I also bought a nice Victoria agave and what looks to be a Dyckia velascana from the picture on the yuccado.com site. In gallon pots they were on sale for $3.00.

And something new has been added. Judine Schumacher is a licensed massage therapist and is going to have a room in the nursery sales cottage to give massages. So if you're tired and achy from shopping, from playing in the yard too long and hard, or whatever; she can fix you up right there with a relaxing body massage! There's a twenty percent discount for new clients :-)
