Beautiful bird!! What a thrill to get to see the pair together. I came home today to find a mess by my driveway a mockingbird had made a nest & had at least 1 tiny baby & crow got the baby to the ground (dead)& mom/dad I don't know as lot of feathers all over, hope it wasn't my favorite 1 & hope it's is still alive. It must be a little ragged if it is. He?(I think males are only ones that sing) often sat just a few feet from me when I weeded & sang or just sat there.Haven't weeded for over a month so it's a mess out there, hope to get into better routine soon.Day by day for now. Mockingbird lets me know if birdbath is about empty by whizzing over my head, hummers do that too, if their feeder is empty. Jules, send some of those beauties my way, I would love to see them in my yard. I have seen a regular oriole drinking from my hummer feeder.Jan

Algae spores are carried by wind, bugs, birds, etc. and so you will get algae in the new pond no matter what you do. If your filters are dirty, by all means clean them out and move them to the new pond. Use the old pond water so as to avoid killing the beneficial bacteria. If possible, keep some of the old filter media in some non-stagnant water to ensure you keep a lot of the good bacteria alive and then move to new pond when pumps are running.

Beautiful bird! I've never had one at my feeder, but I'm not in a great location. Lately, lots of Palm Warblers, Yellow-Rumped Warblers, Blue-Gray Gnatcatchers, a pair of Phoebes, Red-Bellied Woodpecker, Blue Jays, Cardinals and Dove (mostly White-Winged). I still have a resident Red-Shouldered Hawk patrolling the area, but he's now been joined by a Cooper's Hawk. The song birds better keep looking up! Hope your bunting stays with you awhile! wt

We're expecting a cooldown as well, with a low of 58 tonight so I'm sure alot of mine will move on. Still have just one male but not sure whether he's the same one who's been around for awhile or a new guest!
