No birds at feeders?

I have a suet feeder (the cage type) and a sunflower feeder..
I used to have a whole flock of sparrows, a chickadee, a pair of nuthatches and I've seen a downy for a while.

However, lately (past 1-3 weeks) I haven't seen anything.Just squirrels hanging upside down eating my suet.. Not even sparrows..

Plus, it's not only my feeder.I go to a nature reserve and there feeders were emptier than usual.Yesterday all I saw was one chickadee, one downy, and sparrows..Normally I see multiple nuthatches,chickadees,titmice,cardinals..etc

What do you think is causing this?Is it the squirrels? If so, how do I get rid of them?

(My feeders are hung on a tree, without a baffle. The squirrels don't seem to care about the sunflower feeder, considering the holes are small and it's metal. However, my suet has larger gaps which they can access...I'm not going to put my feeders on a pole or anything.)
