Perfect Camoflage

Recently I have been attempting to take pictures of birds showing how their markings aid in camoflage.

I am attaching a picture of a Savannah Sparrow feeding on the ground under a maple tree and I was fascinated at how well the birds markings blend in with the dried maple leaves.

In the first picture you can hardly see the bird, but if you start at the letter E in the word perfect on the photo label. then look about 1/3 of the way up in the photo you will see the bird.

What I found most interesting was that the bird scampers along in short bursts and from a distance it gives the illusion of a leaf blowing in the wind.

I then cropped out a closer look at the same bird.
