Mixing Tan And Yellow in Room - Making it 'Right'
Comments (4)I think it can be done too-- and I did it. Way back in 1983 I saw a photo in AD of a marvelous living room decorated by Mario Buatta. It had a large Stark needlepoint rug in shades of tan with a brown border and big roses of various colors. Some of the roses were yellow-gold and white. Buatta painted the walls yellow. Ivory couches, and natural wood tables. (I bought the same rug in 2000 and used a yellow-gold Nobilis paper on the walls.) I think tans with white and just a touch of greens and yellow works very well! That rug is still there in the living room and became the color basis for the entire house....See MoreCan you help me find a good tan wall color?
Comments (36)boxer, thanks, those pics are very helpful. Bleeker looks just like what I have on my walls now (in the day, -- the "good" time of day for it.) susan, that sounds really promising because peach is one of my colors and I was secretly hoping for a peachy tan. mythreesons -- thank you soooo much! I just ordered a Capistrano corbel. A million thanks for going the extra mile and contacting your cabinetmaker. Can't wait to go out and get all these paints, and after all this wonderful help, I can see I'm going to have to finally learn how to post photos in case anyone wants to see the results....See MoreStruggling to decide on paint in master bath
Comments (8)I tested sherwin Williams creamy. Would you do the creamy or the Benjamin Moore Navajo white that’s on the trim. I’m afraid the Navajo white will be too yellow. I’m trying to post a picture but having issues....See MoreStruggling to find the right color
Comments (7)your flooring has reddish brown undertones so I'd stay away from the taupe/pink greige colors. I also notice a lot of browns and tans (with red accents) in your living room. throwing in a gray-greige might not works w/all of the yellow/red undertones you have. reflection from the floor to the wall will make any of those taupe-pink colors even more so. make sure to use the right bulbs in your lights. anything under 3500 is going to cast yellow/orange tones to the walls. 4000 is good for the kitchen and dining I used Light Pewter in my kitchen and really like it. Pale Oak is a good one BM Sea Salt (not SW sea salt) is also a nice tone. throw in a pattern rug w/warm brown tones, off whites and some black and charcoal. maybe a textured rug for under the dining table Did you try Edgecomb? you can see how it's less taupe than Revere. BTW, how about some artwork over you sofa? or elsewhere? you have nothing on the walls some color wouldn't hurt...See MoreRelated Professionals
