Davenport Tan, Alexandria Beige, or Litchfield Gray?
Comments (2)The bedding appears to me to be a brown figure on a light blue background; is that correct? If so, I would prefer a light brown for the walls (use the grey in the guest room!). Do you have the bedding yet? I recommend waiting until you have it to choose the wall color. They don't have to match but they need to be compatible. For example, brown is brown but a greenish brown (khaki) and a reddish brown may not look right together. Since the hues of paint are more variable than those of anything else, it is usually best to choose fabrics first, then paint. If you can place samples of the paint colors next to the bedding you'll probably be able to choose almost instantly....See MoreI really need help w/ tan paint color for MBR! lenox tan?
Comments (64)I tried to post a picture, but am having trouble with a few things. First of all, my photo skills are lacking and the true colors of the current wall color and the sample of Wheeling Neutral are just not showing up they way they appear IRL. The current wall color is much more yellow. In my picture, the two colors look quite similar, when they really aren't at all. The other problem is the size of the picture. I inserted the picture by dragging and dropping from my pictures library and the picture is huge. Do I need to resize before I insert a photo? This is my first attempt at including a photo since the change over to Houzz. Then, of course, there's that whole thing with my photos becoming 'property' of Houzz. I have been comparing my samples of Lenox Tan and Wheeling Neutral and I think I've figured out what didn't work with the Lenox Tan in our BR with the bedding I'm going to use. Altho I do like the richness of LT, the color needs to be grayer and I think I've achieved that with the WN. Could I go darker? I suppose the answer would be yes, but then the color is just about matching the grayed brown in the pillow sham and that's not necessarily my goal. The colors should just blend, right? I want a nice background color that works with the overall color scheme....See MoreGray? Beige? Need help choosing colors!
Comments (10)Not sure what family of colors you're into for trim (blues, greens, etc) but I've been looking at Homburg Gray (Sherwin Williams) for updating my shutters & exterior doors. I bought a sample planning for a bedroom and though it didn't work there I know I'll find some way I'll incorporate this gorgeous deep deep bluish green into my home color sceme....See MoreNeed help choosing light gray color to go with reddish orange floors!
Comments (0)Hi all, I've done lots of renovations to a previous home, and also built a home within the last year, but this paint color is just killing me. We own a rental property, and are doing some renovations in between tenants this summer. One is repainting the entire unit all one color, a light gray. I'm very familiar with grays, more so with benjamin moore, but I know a fair amount of SW too. The issue is that the downstairs living/dining has these reddish orange hardwoods. I find that they def bring out the pink/purple undertones of paint colors. When i bought the place, the woman had painted the entire unit in this fleshy beige color, the entire downstairs especially looked like a bandaid. That's the color that is on the walls in the pics I will attach. Admittedly it doesn't look bad in the pic, but in person it was very pinkish. A few years ago I painted the downstairs Edgcomb Gray, but even that appears a little bit purplish to me. So where do I go from here? I have read many posts about chroma and color family, but at this point I'm still struggling. My current home has BM White Wisp, and I love it. But it definitely has a green undertone too it that I think would be accentuated by the orange-red in the floors, right? I've been looking hard at BM Intense White, but again it has a greenish undertone. What undertone do I need to look for to neutralize the color in the floor? I want to use a super light gray, as the townhouse is in the middle of the row and doesn't get much natural light. Thanks in advance for any advice or recommendations!...See MoreLori A. Sawaya
