It's a cool idea, but I've never had one, so I'm waiting too to see what the other forum participants say. When my husband had a long convalescence from some orthopaedic surgery, and was pretty much confined for a month or two in mid-winter, I bought one of those two-way mirror bird feeders. It actually stuck into your house and you shut the window down on it and sealed around it. The birds had a nifty platform on which to land and feed, and it was sheltered from the weather. They were oblivious to us inside. Our cat had spasms sitting there on a chairback with her nose against the glass and four or five birds inches away going after seeds and suet. You could even add seed through a hatch in the top from the inside.

It was pretty expensive and we have ceased using it, but it was really an experience.

That sounds like a blast! I bet your husband really appreciated that while he was convalesing.

Calliope, I remember that being reported on this forum, probably by you. It was fascinating.

When my wife broke her leg some years ago, and was forced to live in a lazy-boy recliner nearly 24 hours a day, I hung a big tube feeder a dew inches away from the window near her chair. It was a second-story window, so I set up a pulley system for refilling the feeder.

A viewable nest-box should be equally fascinating, as well as educational. Some people put video cameras in a nestbox, but I think this will be even better as long as the birds are not disturbed.

That's what brought the feeder with the mirror in it to mind. I'm wondering if those nest boxes have them, so as any human activity would be shielded from them, yet humans could watch. If I were a bird, I don't think I'd want to do something like lay eggs under human noses, lol. They'd instinctively search out a spot with some privacy.

That is so great! what a fantastic idea!!! I hope someone chimes in and says that these work great..because I would LOVE to have one!!! Otherwise, I might have to be the guinea pig who orders one and waits and sees! lol!

I've never used a nest box like that but I tried a little feeder that attached with suction cups and it kept falling off.
