Squirrel baffles for shepherd's poles?

Hello All:

I recently acquired fours shepherd's poles to be used for bird feeders. Two of the poles have a single hook, while the other two have double hooks. I am always battling squirrels in my yard, and have only managed to deter them on my other two straight poles using the torpedo squirrel baffles. The type I currently have will not work on the shepherd's pole since they attach to the pole itself and there is no way to get the baffles around the shepherd's poles

In an effort to save money, I was hoping to make something on my own which would generate the same protection. Does anyone have any suggestions on what could be used on the shepherd's poles that would be similar in nature to the torpedo baffles?

I have never had any luck with the baffles which extend outward more than up, since I noticed the squirrels eventually being able to jump on those types.

THANKS in advance.
