black oil sunflower seeds probably attract more birds than any other feed. you can use a tube feeder or a mesh wire feeder or even a hopper feeder. Suet is a great treat in winter but some birds eat it year around. you can use a suet cage and buy suet cakes or make your own suet mix. there are lots of old posts on here making suet. if you like doves and juncos and other ground feeders the seed mixes with cracked corn ot millet do good but they also attract blackbirds and starlings and cowbirds which lots of people don't want around. the summer song birds such as tanagers and orioles and grosbeaks like fruit or berrys or drink from necter feeders. or plants with berrys or blooms and blossoms. the woodpeckers i get here love nuts and suet and cracked corn and millet. robins and bluebirds like mealworms or grubs or earthworms the tits and chickadees and nuthatches like suet or hulled sunflowers or boss or nuts.

I guess you mean the sunflower hearts? I use them instead of regular sunflower that way I don't have hulls everywhere. I think I've figured out who's scat it was I also found some around the dog food bowl (outside) there were no tracks other than the dog and birds. I know the bluejays often eat the dog food, so I think it's bluejay poop. :)

I would hop over to Mission Stone & Tile in Nashville. That is where my arabesque backsplash in the last house came from. My laundry room floor in the old house. I've gotten tile for my master bath in the new house and also the laundry room floor. I do believe others here have also used them based on my experiences. I think they might actually be doing something with slabs now, but I'm not sure. I don't live there, so I haven't been there in person. Good luck. Same with DIYnetwork, and really, what has happened to TLC--it's all brides and people with some outlandish story or addiction...so unless you want to eat your old cabinets, I think that is certainly not an option....lol

Just wanted to welcome you and let you know that there are actually quite a few active, well-informed people on here in the Nashville area (including lucky_p as you see above). I am 20 minutes north of Nashville and grow a lot of fruits. Unfortunately, though, mine are all 3 years or less and I'm too new and inexperienced to try and offer any real advice. That being said, I can tell you that blackberries and figs have been the most successful fruits for me, followed by peaches. I've struggled a bit with raspberries but its probably just my inexperience because people do grow them here. I have had good luck with some blueberries, not so much with others. Nothing else has been planted long enough for me to comment on, but I have about 65 good looking small trees in about 23 varieties of fruit so time will tell. I'm certainly a beginner but I'll be happy to offer what little insight I can if you have questions about growing in Nashville area. BTW, I have incredible success with watermelons and cantaloupes and you should be able to find my review of watermelons I've succeeded with in this area. Good luck. Always nice to see a neighbor.
