You are indeed fortunate. Thanks for your reverie. Claire

Thank you deanie. I had a cowbird here this summer: This fella this morning was cold or something. He never moved. And since he was new, I didn't want to rattle him, so I couldn't use my tripod that was in my kitchen sink. I had to stand away in my kitchen and shoot thru a window. Well as you see, this fella was darn near black. I could see the "spilled oil" color on its' feathers, however. Dax

I think you are in a pickle. If you put food out someone will eat it. The only way to prevent cats from killing birds is to keep the cats indoors. Your other alternative is to not put the food out at all. Or move the food to another place? Good luck. I always vote on the birds' side in keeping cats indoors.

Yep, and the young look the same as the old as well, with the exception of VERY young ones. So if you see a group of them, there's no telling whether they are male, female, young, old, parents, babies, etc. They are my favorite bird to feed with their antics. Joe
