The Fourth has been extra happy here, even after a monsoonal micro burst rolled through last night causing many buds to be ejected from my peppers ,I noticed my first Habanero pod forming this morning and it seems to be doing well. Fingers crossed for us all. dj

Our cousins live about 30 miles away, up in the country, and on the three summer holidays, we go there for a nice picnic. They have an outdoor fireplace--actually an old truck rim, and lawn chairs to sit on. Also a nice big picnic table, where we set out all kinds of good eats and desserts! The men sit around and quaff a few brewskis, while the ladies get the food ready! Then after we eat, everybody sits around and talks about anything that comes to mind. We're all a bunch of old-timers now, but most are enjoying fair to good health. Some of the other's off- spring manage to come to at least one outing during the summer, so we get to see how the kids have grown up and prospered! I take the back roads to get there, to avoid the Holiday rush on the Inter-state hiway! Oh, there's always something interesting to gab about, and we wile away the day doing just that! We used to go on camping trips on the holidays, but everybody but me has given up on the camping thing! But, i'm probably going to have to sell my motor home, and go back to camping in the back of my truck! 10-11 mpg makes using the coach too expensive! Any way, may all of you have a nice 4th. of July holiday!! If you drive anywhere, drive carefully, leave in plenty of time, don't take chances when swimming, hang yer clothes on a hickory limb, and don't go near the water! That bit of advice was always given to me when i was a kid, by my mother! Its part of a saying that was popular when my folks were young kids! by: Rustyj

Hi! Congrats Suzanne on that terrific total on the yard sale! What was the fund raiser for? Carolyn, I feel your pain re the heat! Hotter than heck here too... I think most of us are catching up on FB, but I find this to be so much more private, a safe place where we can bare our souls. This group is amazing, even if I haven't been checking in so often! Just wanted to say thank you for all of the prayers and good wishes, good thoughts from you guys after my accident. I am completely recovered from that nasty concussion, jaw is all healed and i have been back to work for the past 2 1/2 weeks! You might have seen that I have already been deep sea fishing and this Sunday I am taking my kayak out on Newport Bay. Can't wait! Can't find too many friends or family who enjoy kayaking as much as I do, so I went to meetup.com and found some new friends who DO! Ha! There is group at that link for EVERY interest. So Carolyn, go find 'em! You might suddenly find yourself with TOO much to do! : ) tikanis
