Galveston closing beaches for the July 4th weekend

I cannot imagine anyone who would be dumb enough to go to a crowded beach on the 4th, but Texas had a lot of people who were going to gatherings and now coming up with Covid so it's a good call. The next city over from me has a mask mandate with a $1,000 fine which I think is a good way to handle the issue of masks. If they start raking it in I bet all the local towns will do the same.

How will I celebrate? Someone in my area Next-door is going to have a thread dedicated to a pie/cake 'parade' where everyone makes a pie or cake and sends in a picture. I'm going to make a pan butter cookie with jam from my grandfather's recipe. Not that pies have any connection with the meaning of the 4th, but unifying festivities are always good for small towns and I think that the pie parade is a great idea.
