Cowles Bog is the last remaining remnant of the Great Marsh, Lake Michigan�s largest interdunal wetland. It is roughly 205 acres in extent - most of it wetlands that are in the process of being restored. The area that I'm arguing against is a 25 acre wooded parcel which, while is technically part of the "wetland complex," is separate. One of the issue facing the entire complex was that beginning long ago ditches were created to drain the wetland. Most of the damage occurred in the 1960s with the building of a steel mill and power plant. No one cared much about wetlands back then. Beginning in the 1850s, Indiana drained something like 87% of it's wetlands - second only to Illinois and Ohio. Now we have to live with that legacy - the mills, the power plant, the rail yard, the highway - all this is visually screened and sonically buffered by the forest. Cowles Bog is a beautiful place. We had thousands and thousands of Sand Hill Cranes fly over this spring. For the first time in recent memory, some of them stopped to roost in the bog. I'll do whatever I can do aid in its recovery, but I fear that removing all these trees--however imperfect they may be from an ecological standpoint--will jeopardize the entire complex. I think this is a case where environmentalism has to yield to good and common sense.

I would mount the telly on an articulating arm underneath the upper cabinet closest to the dining table. Most likely you will need to attach it to a stud. Hopefully you could make the edge of the telly flush with the end of the cabinet/counter. Using an arm will allow you to pivot the telly toward the DR table, the island or the sink. And then you can fold it flat against the wall for a more streamline look when not in use. With this arrangement, you might have to move the radio/speakers. As mentioned by another commenter/s, I would love to see a general breakdown of cost. Lovely kitchen. Enjoy it in good health!

I finished the magnolia hanging and my sister's quilt! I also have completed the quilting on the CW quilt...just needs many yards of binding made and attached. :) I am off most of next week. My plans include making new cushion covers for the "mamasan" chair in our living room and figuring out how to resurrect the upholstered chair in our bedroom. It's suffered through many years of cat scratching...the cover is ripped and most of the stuffing has fallen out. I have a plan to replace the upholstery with foam cushions, since I know nothing about upholstering and don't care to learn. DFIL knows how and has upholstered that chair in the past, but he was very unhappy when our cats shredded the last cover he put on it, so I'm afraid to ask him to fix it again! (I'd really like to just pitch it, but apparently DH has some attachment to it. LOL) Donna

OldFixer I certainly do! That is the reason my grandfather bought the property in Beverly Shores. There used to be a restaurant across from the cylinder house, we used to get sandwiches for family gatherings there. That restaurant was one of the first buildings to go. I remember well getting calls in the middle of the night to go sand bag when the lake levels were high or very heavy rains pouring down over Lake Shore Dr. We sold our cottage after a couple of years of that, early 90's, I wish we had not but I understand all the beachside homes are gone anyways. ~ liz
