Question about barn swallow fledglings.

Our 5 barn swallow fledglings returned with their single parent to the nest for the first two days after fledging. (Daddy or mommy bird was feeding them on the nest for about an hour around dusk the first night that they returned.) Then a night passed without any swallows on the porch, and last night a single bird slept perched on the ledge beside the nest.

It seems to me that our swallow families in the past have returned to or near the nest for the better part of a week after fledging. Do I need to worry about my little five-some, or is it normal for them to sometimes leave the nest permanently after only a few/couple days?
