You were kind enough to answer my thread so I figure I should do the same.
I see you have the same concerns as I did a little while ago. If you notice my question has not moved down the list all that much even in such a span of time. To bad, this used to be the first site I'd head to when I would log on my computer at work. I used to ask something and I'd get numerous responses in a relatively short period. As I mentioned earlier I guess I'm still privileged to go camping with my son and the scouts once a month. Sometimes tents, sometimes leentos or cabins. It's still getting outdoors away from our normal routines.
Rusty, hope you get some responses to your queries. Don't know if I should mention this but I just found another site with a little more action on it. Maybe others have moved elsewhere. http://www.campingforums.com/forum/

I didn't get out much last summer. My wife has been sick for a while, and i stayed home, only going out for a day or so. And, since the motor home is a gas gulper, i didn't go much further than 75 miles, one way. At $3.50/Gallon, it costs too much! A local fellow wants to buy it, but he doesn't want to pay my price. This year, he might get it cheap. I have a small pickup, and i might just make up a trailer for it. Or somekind of cap.
Being 86 years of age, and still in good health, and having not "given up", i still go out one night a week to our local bluegrass jam session evenings, and still drive my own vehicles! And repair lawn mowers, etc. on the side!

The luxury of camping is appreciated even more when outside circumstances forbid the opportunities. Hopefully, your family is recovered and you can fully enjoy each other's company. A weekly bluegrass jam session is really cool. My son has become a budding guitarist and I'm reliving my musical days and enthusiasm through him. Personally, I have several years until everyday is Sunday because my two kids are about to enter their collegiate years. But they do keep me young.

Did you see my answer to your earlier post, up above? I should have put it down here, but old age----!
My pickup gets 35 mpg, so it does well in that section. I bought it as a wrecked vehicle, fixed it up, and it is my daily driver. I had worked as an auto body repairman/ painter, as my main occupation. Then there was the auto and lawn mower fixin, so that bcame my job when i retired.
I joined the local Volunteer Fire Co. back in 1960. did it all-held several positions. Still a member!
I got interested in Country and Bluegrass music, and learned the 5-string banjo, and am still playing it. In the summer, we have several Bluegrass weekends, at various locations. Some pay, some free, and Sundays, twice a month, there is an indoor music gig we attend. Also, an every Tuesday Bluegrass session at a Bar, in Blawnox, PA. near Pittsburgh.
Good that somebody checks in here. I always liked to contact the members. I wonder if Jen is still around? Haven't seen anything from her in a while. Wasn't it Jen who was chasing the Jersey Devil?

To Mitch Elliot---I'm still here! Still kicking, and enjoying a brewski every day. Still fixing mowers. sold 2 lawn tractors last week. Ruth isn't well, but she did cook a good supper today. I bought her a new kitchen stove--the electric one gave up, and got the boot. We got a gas stove, so i can cook if i outlive Ruth! Ohhh, how i hated the electric stove--GRRR!
And then, the overhead light in the kitchen gave up the ghost. the fan motor died, and a neighbor is going to install just a lamp fixture for us.
I really can't complain--this old Cape Cod was built in 1940!! And is still doing well. The neighbors on each side want to buy it--so what could be bad about that.
So, off to the wars with the grass and weeds! Wish i could go camping again---Rusty J.

Still here Rusty, and still camping! We've solved both or storage and mileage issues - a 2011 50 mpg Prius running a TorkLift Class II hitch, Firestone RideRite coil helper air lift springs and a Thule Combi Transporter Cargo Basket (size of a Corolla trunk). Plenty of room for 3, all our gear (house battery, 200w Kenwood/Polk Stereo, lighting, 3 lanterns, two tents), and firewood for a 3-4 night trip. We hit the La Jolla Indian Reservation Campground this August and got in some good river tubing and tenting. Hope you're getting out this fall, post your exploits!

Well, TP, i didn't get out much. did go to the annual pig roast, about 25 miles away, at a friends farm. the Bluegrass was a-rollin" and i got to pick the banjo with them. Stayed for the dinner, but had to get home, before the wife called the police!
she thinks i can't see at night, but i told her it was easy--i just turn the head-lights on, and drive on!
