I don't know what one can do about the jelly situation but last fall I bought the best bird feeder that I have ever had and not a single squirrel has bothered it - the answer to all the many years of squirrel problems that I have had. I will try to explain what it looks like. I hang it from a wire hook. It is made of metal or tin which doesn't rust and if you can imagine a fat hour glass, that would be similar to what it looks like. It has a tin top which unclips for filling it and the hourglass shape is made of wire so that the birds can cling to it and peck the seeds out of it. There is also a wire ring around the bottom for birds to sit on while they eat. The one thing that I learned by mistake - when the corn in your seed mix settles to the bottom, don't empty it out because it is a "buffer" that keeps the smaller seed from running out of the feeder. As the birds eat, some seed falls to the ground and the mourning doves are busy eating that since they aren't usual bird feeder eaters. I also have an occasional squirrel that eats off of the ground as well as a chipmunk but they are fun to watch also. I will look to see if I can find the name of this wonderful invention. It is super and plan to purchase another one.

Joan Don't give up. Last spring I tried attracting them and had no luck. This year I starting putting out oranges and jelly in mid -April. Then on Thursday I finally saw one eating the orange half. Haven't seen him since, but hoping he comes back. I myself live in an urban area (near Milwaukee, WI). I don't have a special oriole feeder but will be getting one now that I know they are here.

At 10 weeks, kittens should get about 2/3 cup food a day in 4-5 meals. You could add some warm water to their wet food to ensure they're getting enough water, as sometimes kittens are just not interested in water. It also makes it easier for them to lap up the food. All our cats were rescued from the streets (starving) and no matter how much food they got, they always seemed hungry - the vet said they were making up for lost time. I'd feel sorry for them but then was advised that they could easily overeat and too much food could upset their tiny tummies. Gradually we learnt how much to feed them. We got many toys from the store for them, to this day they prefer to play with bottle caps and paper balls lol. They do love their cat tree and scratching post. Max is called MaxuRocket coz of his habit of zooming all over the house at top speed for no apparent reason - and then he'd go into the burn-out phase, panting like a dog. Kittens that young will play with almost anything, and they're such cute lil bundles of energy. It's really good that you have two so they can expend all that energy on each other. Enjoy your lil ones, they grow out of this stage very fast. Don't forget to take out the camera and post pics here soon!

Iceberg or romaine lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, onion, bell pepper, peas, broccoli, carrots, beans, sometimes turkey or chicken, and ocassionally cheese or walnuts are some of the things I add. Top it off with low-fat or no-fat dressing. Had a big salad with dinner tonight with lots of the above stuff in it and low-fat Sweet and Sour Poppyseed dressing. Yum....
