Do orioles come to city feeders

I've seen threads on here talking about the orioles that come to feeders. I was wondering if any of you live in urban settings or are you all rural settings. I live in a small prairie city and tried last year to entice orioles to my feeder but no such luck. Are any of you that are lucky enough to attract orioles city dwellers?

Bullocks Orioles, breed close by a junction of two freeways in California, so I don't think that's the reason you have to worry about however an Oriole feeder is suggested to attract them.

I have an oriole feeder that I put up with orange slices and grape jelly but I didn't have any luck. The orioles we get around here are Baltimore Orioles.

Hi Lydia, I would certainly contact the company and see whether they will send you a new base free of charge. I have read many sad stories and seen horrific pictures of dead hummers stuck at those very feeders. The safer we can make it for our little guys & gals, the better. As for the orioles, I have had them try to sip out of the hummer feeders but the holes are just too small. I hung an oriole feeder and now I have at least 4 or 5 of them coming every day. It's sooooooooo cool!!!!

I'm hoping to put my Oriole feeders (liquid and orange halves) out this week. The weather is so crazy, but I would rather be a bit early than miss the OrioleÃ¢ÂÂs. I put out nectar, oranges and grapes (not grape jelly) and have both Baltimore and Orchard orioles, Ruby-throated hummingbirds, Gray catbirds, Rose-breasted grosbeaks, house finches, and others eating almost constantly. Cathy, I'm amazed that your oranges aren't more popular, we go through several a day with the orioles and catbirds the main indulgers. My woodpeckers don't eat the fruit at all. elke, no need to add food coloring to either hummingbird or oriole nectar, they will find it just fine without. And I use the same ratio for both as both hummers and orioles eat from either type of feeder - apparently no one told them that the little red feeder is for hummers and the big orange one is for orioles, lol. i have the Bullocks orioles here, There are three pairs of them that had nests nearby this spring. I watch them thru a window on the back yard, The feeders are about 10 feet away. If i don't move or make any noise they are ok but the least movement they are gone. Now i have about eleven fledglings big enough to fly well and they are feeding from daylight till dark and have not learned to be skitish yet. I go thru 2 quarts of sugar water a day and 2 cups of orange juice and several pieces each of watermelon and cantalope and cherry ect. They have already learned to fight with each other over which gets to drink first.

Don't give up. Last spring I tried attracting them and had no luck. This year I starting putting out oranges and jelly in mid -April. Then on Thursday I finally saw one eating the orange half. Haven't seen him since, but hoping he comes back.
I myself live in an urban area (near Milwaukee, WI). I don't have a special oriole feeder but will be getting one now that I know they are here.

Hang in there, it takes time for them to establish a pattern.

We waited a while after, seeing them in our area. And yes we live in town. There's a jelly cup and a half and orange inside this oriole feeder my husband made.

Well, this last Saturday an oriole showed up at my feeder and I wasn't home to see it. My husband phoned me to tell me that a male had found the jelly I had out for them. Now I'm hoping he will return so I can see him and take some pics (I had the camera with me so no pics). I was thrilled to hear that he was in my yard. My husband never saw it again but I'm still hoping.

They have to form a habit of visiting your feeder, then you have them as long a you provide something for them. Congratulations.
