Sparrow ID?

Earlier today I saw a Song Sparrow feeding a fledgling, then later I saw a bird wandering around looking uncertain. At first I thought it was the same Song Sparrow fledgling, but I'm less and less certain the more I look at it.

This is the Song Sparrow with fledgling.

And this is the bird I saw later. Is this also a Song Sparrow or could it be a Savannah Sparrow? Savannah photos have been confirmed here in the winter, but I've been told that most of the photos I thought were Savannahs were actually Songs (long story with Project FeederWatch staff).

This guy just doesn't look right for a Song Sparrow, but maybe fledglings are different. Little bill, skinny legs, short tail, spot on lores.

Thanks! I see adult Song Sparrows often, mostly in the winter, but I'd never seen a fledgling until the other day when I saw the adult feeding the baby. Usually in the summer the sparrows stay out of sight.

I hope that little thing gets more wary before a hawk sees it.

YESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is the hermit thrush!!!! (NOT EVEN LISTED in the MAssachusetts bird book which has 280 pages / 2 pages per bird, or about 140 birds) and he is NOT singing!!!(even though he is listed as having the most beautiful song of the songbirds of North America)-- he is just scrounging for food. Also, I appreciated the song sparrow ID, as well, because that helped identify yet another bird in the collection. So big THANKS to Jeanner (glorious photos!!!--what camera do you use?)and Kendra2 (such a cute pic of sparrow in the snow!) for helping me out. I'm just thrilled to have a Vermonter (hermit thrush is the state bird of Vermont) visiting at our place.

Dead baby bluebid out on my deck

I began thinking. The chicadees and the wrens and a hosp box and bluebirds were all doing okay. I did not want to remove the hosp box as it worked as the bluebird took one box and the hosp the other. Everyone was leaving everyone alone. If I took the hosp box down they would have retaliated. Actually they are still there with their babies. What I believe happened was that another Hosp and his girlfriend from another area whether on my street or wherever came looking for a box and thats where the trouble began or perhaps something ruined their nest and they retaliated. They came out of the blue onto my property. Now that is hard to control.

I did have a Chipper nest of 3 Chippers and one Cowbird.....didn't notice till it was too late. All 4 babies fledged. I did notice that more Chippers than just the 2 parents were feeding these babies. Quite a few in fact. SO (not that I like these birds) but it does not necessarily mean all the other nestlings died.
