Please with bird nest ID

I found this nest under a tall long leaf yellow pine with no low limbs in my yard in s. Ga. There were no eggs in or around it. Thanks for any help.

Not sure,... I'm thinking of a Clay-colored Sparrow, these birds have nest on the ground, ...just found one the other day.

I've done some research, and it's worth noting that pretty much everything called Asplenium nidus is actually Asplenium australasicum. So I should really say it's probably A. australasicum. The difference is based on the sori. They appear as brown, fuzzy, diagonal lines under the fronds. (Your plant may not have sori.) According to the source below, the sori in A. australasicum are half or more the distance between midrib and margin. So basically, I'm thinking it's Asplenium australasicum rather than A. nidus var. plicatum. I've seen larger plants get wavy over time. The source below says the plicatum should be more convoluted. Great photos Lenfocenter. I have known people who have also had this happen in their hanging baskets. In the UK it's usually sparrows or wrens that do this. There are many of these red and purple fuchsias so quite difficult to say which one it is for certain, might be 'Son of Thumb' but I'm not 100% sure. Yes, he looks just like the pictures at the link Patti posted. The feeder has a little cup of grape jelly between the oranges. I'm hopeful...... :-) The baby bird hadn't mastered flying when I was looking at him. I went in the house to process these pictures and post my question, and when I went back outside he had disappeared. Do birds suddenly "get" flying? Or do you think maybe his parents encouraged him to go somewhere else? We've had a nest of baby house wrens in a birdhouse hanging from the porch. They all managed to leave without me seeing their flying lessons. I see them around, though. And hear them! There's a catbird next in a big mulberry bush. I never knew catbirds had such a beautiful song. And, as always, robins and phoebes are nesting in my garage. With so many interesting things going on around the property, I hate to leave for work!

Nothing...those little sparrows will have a hard time to survive, do you think they will die?

Konrad, you can bet your booties the sparrow babies will die and the poor parents will be run ragged trying to feed the one cowbird chick. Personally, I would remove that egg.

Oh Konrad ,I just went throught this...you gotta shake the heck outta that egg then put it back in the nest. I would have lost all my Chipping Sparrow babies if they had not nested where I could monitor them. This baby grew 20 x faster than the chippers and was kicking the Chippers out of the nest.had I not interviened all the Chipper babies would have died and the Cow bird baby been the only child of the poor Chippers, they will raise it. Read my posts 911 pre fledging of Chippers snd so on..I am glad to say the 3 Chipper babies that jumped out of the nest prematurly have all fledged safely as did the Cow bird baby. (one thread "I cant believe my eyes") will tell the story. Please shake the heck outta that egg...you don't want it to hatch and you don't want the Cow Birds to come with their wrath on the babies that do hatch.

I'm still wondering...how the heck the Cow bird can sit and lay a egg in this tiny nest?
Can they put it in with their beak?
Cow bird can lay up to 30 eggs a season, this nest has egg # 31.. sorry, this egg has to go tomorrow! LOL

Konrad, read Lisa's post...Don't throw the egg out...shake it so it won't hatch. The (CB) parents have been known to come back to where they laid the eggs and kill the other nestlings and throw eggs out of the nest.
