Thanks to everyone for the Birthday wishes! I'll say also, it was the big 32 for me. Thanks to Stephanie/Pastvast for the package (which finally arrived yesterday!) this month and the B-day wishes. I received a book called The Cultivated Gardener, which I have a feeling I'm going to love! My pal sent some herb seeds, which I'll be sure to plant, I'm adding more herbs to my veggie garden this year. My pal also sent some seed starting guides, perfect timing since I've gotten behind on getting my seeds started this year and was going to start this week. And last but not least a foot soak (I love pampering myself!), and a BIG chocolate bar! YUM!!! I hope I didn't forget anything, I'm going by memory, and you know how that gets as you get older! ;-) Thanks again Stephanie! It was a wonderful package this month! Thanks to our host, Jeanne/Sandlapper Rose (the person I send to) for the B-day wishes. That was a nice surprise to receive a card (both of them!). And finally, Spring is coming! My crocus are blooming right on schedule again this year with the first bloom opening on my Birthday (Sunday). Can't wait for all those daffodils that are poking through to finally take off!

Hello friends, FINALLY home from gallavanting around the country. This last trip was to take our son and his girlfriend back to MN. They had been here visiting for a week. We then stayed an extra 3 days to do some more sightseeing. DS also took along his cat, Precious, so we now have 1 cat and 1 dog. Sniff, sniff. Vee, Happy to hear you liked your gifts. The wolf on the stone came from our visit to Kansas City sometime in the spring. Was hoping you might like it. The alstromeria was looking a little tough, I know, but it came all the way from Texas in the car with us. It came from the Wildseed Farm down there just west of Austin near Fredricksburg. Think it will make it? It looked a LOT better earlier. LOL The "can can" heuchera is from Iowa. Nothing special about it. Stephanie, is the guy in the photo available? Earthly is looking! I have no idea if we got any rain while we have been gone, but last night and today we have been having some nice showers on and off. We have really been needing them! Tomorrow I'm going to go to a friend's house in Gifford--little unincorporated burgh of maybe??? 100 people maybe less--and help her in her flower gardens, etc. Every year this little burgh has a huge 4th of July parade. It's known all over the county. I'm guessing they easily have 75+ entries in the parade yearly. Anyway, she always wants her yard to look spotless. The whole little "town" spiffs up for the event. At least the rain will make pulling any weeds easier. Deb, I am so sorry to hear of your Grandmother's passing. It is so sad to lose a Grandma. Have already said prayers for you. Am enjoying the pictures. I have a number of Asiatic lilies blooming right now along with other perennials. I need to try to post them. Maybe DH can help me figure out how to do it. I still have directions on how to do it. Just can't quite figure it out, though. I'm NOT giving up! Alicia--I was just in Austin about a week-and-a-half ago. WOW, is it hot!!! DH and I were there for a long week-end visiting my sister. Never got below 100! She tells us they/you didn't really have a winter this year either. No freezes? When you move you are in for a CHANGE! Where did you live before TX? What are the trees/bushes that are in bloom right now down there? They are a deep red or pink then the flowers fall off and there are berries. Aaaaaagh....My mind.....They are absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!!! As you can see, my mind is gone. Later everyone, Mellen

I'm sorry, Beth, I think I must have missed a post somewhere regarding your loss (when was this?). You have my sympathy. I am glad for you though that you got to see family memebers you miss. That is a very good idea that you get together next year, just for a get-together, rather than for a funeral or wedding. It was a few months ago that an aunt of mine passed away and although it was sad, it was also good to get together with family. It was also good to find out about some health issues that several people had that seem to run in the family. My DH mom's side of the family is so good about having a Fletcher reunion each summer on the Sat. before July 4. That way everyone knows when it is and can plan on attending from where ever they are. My Mom-in-marriage was one of 11 children and I think it is absolutely wonderful that normally they all get together. She was the first of the siblings to pass away, which really hit the others hard as she had been the best of friends to most of them as well as sort of the bedrock of the family. It is a shame that it takes something like that to wake people up, so that they will try to make up and renew their relationships. . . If there is someone in your family that you have quarreled with, make it a point to make a difference and try to make up, not just for your wellbeing, but also for them and the rest of the family. How many of us would ache if still have a grudge with someone and something were to happen tomorrow so that we could never even try to make things right?

I could have sworn I posted here the other day, must have been one of those times my puter kicked off on me =( We have that problem fixed for the time being. Darn thing is overheating, so I had to venture into the attic to bring down a little box fan, tear the side off the case and set up the fan to keep it cool =) Sure, no problems all summer long, but as soon as winter gets here, it overheats =oP Anyhoo, I want to wait to find out who is sending to me, I like suprises! I wouldn't even mind if my first package was sent "annonymosly" =) If the person I am sending to wants to know, I will tell! DS and I will be going to see King Kong and do some last minute x-mas shopping tomorrow (pray for us! lol!) and I will be on the lookout for goodies for my pal =) A Blessed Yule to you all and Happy belated B-day SUMMER!!!

Hi, Jeanne--
Just wanted to let you know that I received the name of the person I'll be sending to.

As for whether to be "secret" or not, I had planned to do whatever my "receiver" wanted to do. If she wants me to remain "secret", then I will. If not, then that's fine, too.

So, here's a suggestion?: everyone participating posts here as to whether they want their "sender" to be secret or not????

My official vote is that I'd like to know who is sending to me...

I have already sent my person a card and told them who I was. I was in a secret robin last year and though the idea is nice, it doesn't work out well. The people who are sending like they should are discovered quickly because of the postmarks and the ones who don't send at all don't show up because no one knows who is sending to who. Also, it makes it hard to talk to one another if you are trying to remain anonymous. I think it would be nice to be able to discuss our gardens and plants with our pals. So I vote to tell each other.

As my preferences on secret or not, my person I send to will know who I am and since I have the "master list" I already know who I will receive from..LOL
A few are trying to remain secret and if you request that, I won't tell!

The past two years I had people mail for me from the lower 48 in order to remail secret. That is a lot of bother but even more important , it prevented me from sending typical "Alaska" stuff. I'm happy to be out of the closet and I'm delighted to be sending to a great gal.
I'll let her be surprised when she gets her first package.

I will let my pal know with the first package unless I see that she prefers it to be a secret and I would like to know who is sending to me so we can get to know one another. I am in a Christmas robin now and my Secret Santa is "punishing" me by not letting me open even one lil thing until Christmas!

Thanks guys for the birthday wishes!!! I had a very nice day. :)) I had the richest chocolate cake I think I've ever had in my life, lol. But man was it good. :)

I sent my pal a card with a letter in it, and revealed who I was. So she shall know soon who I am soon.
I am excited about getting to know you over the next year!! :)

Did someone call lil ol me snoopy? never!!I will tell my pal with their first pkg. if I can remember who I am to send to. I hope you all have the merriest of christmases. my puppy just brought me her water dish, could she be trying to tell me something? I gave her a bath today she is such a sweetheart.

Ms. FaintHeart,Trying to sneak a peak is how you got in that padded cell isn't it? ROFL Who's naughty???LOL Just make sure you do a good job at retaping the box and I won't tell...Remember though Santa's watching too.

As for me I will remain a secret to whom I have atleast for the first box. whom ever has me can choose what they wish to do, doesn't bother me either way.

I posted on our other thread by accident, so I will post again here. I received a lovely early package from my sending pal, Debbie. It is the prettiest fairy statue (a mother fairy holding a child fairy on her lap.) I just love it. I have a collection of fairy decorations in my garden and this will look lovely with it. Thank so much Debbie, I am just thrilled that you are my new pal.

I did a google search for free animations and found the angel. She is cute, isn't she? (not a self portrait..hehehe)

How sweet the fairy statue sounds!!! This is so exciting...to have a new pal for a whole year! I am soooo looking forward to this year ahead and getting to know everyone! :)

To my pal: I will work on updating what little info I have on my member page...as I am just getting back to gardening there will not be a lot. lol Ohhhhh...and I hope I don't scare ya with my sense of humor! I believe laughter IS one of the best medicines and it sure does relieve stress after a frustrating day at the office. :)

Just a quick note to let my pal know I received your card and letter and sooo enjoyed reading it!! I am so looking forward to getting to know you better. I will email you soon....I was in an accident about 2 weeks ago and the pain is bad. Finally I will get an MRI on 12/24. I know all will work out ok. I wish you a Merry Christmas my new pal!! I'm glad you liked the fairy. It was a rush trying to find something to send in time for Christmas. I know we aren't supposed to start until Jan. but *my* pal sent to me a month early last year so I wanted to do the same. :)

I'm also thrilled that I will be sending to you this year. I might not be able to live up to what you did for me last year, you're a tough act to follow!. I do know that I will be better than the pal who was supposed to send to you.

Well it worried me to death as to wether my pal would receive her card before Christmas! Still don't know if she did....but it's been crazy for all of us and some like me...have been sick! Just so you know, my pal....I have your purties already! And I'm gonna be out of town for New Years, not partying! RESTING! lol Hope all you girls have the most wonderful & safe New Year! I'm so thankful & honored to be a part of this group! Sorry but this is the only one I have.....

Has anyone made any holiday resolutions?
I gave up on the idea of resolutions and instead try to make a list of things I hope to accomplish during the year.
Such as putting in a new garden bed and making a new brick path.

Happy New Year Ladies!!! Well--- Thank you so much Sandlapper Rose, it is amazing how much I seem to have in common with my new gal pals...you would make an excellent matchmaker. I rang in 2006 by standing watch over my 48 year old child (read husband ) as he was setting off fireworks for 45 minutes...'course they have to start at midnight....I have the hose running in case of fire, and my car keys and cell phone in my pocket, never know when you have to take someone to the ER. Oh yes, husband IS an ER nurse. :P Now it is 2:24 a.m. and all males are safely tucked in so I will sign off by saying I am so looking foward to getting to know you all in the coming year.
