They all made it!!!!! Doing the happy dance!!

I just saw ALL FOUR fledglings that fledged last week Thursday (day 16...after trying to go on day 15 and not being able to fly so they were put back into the box). I felt horrible last week as I really didn't think the one could get into a tree by itself and the following morning we got almost 3 inches of rain in a very short time. All I could think of was that it was on the ground soaking wet and probably cold. I knew the parents were taking the mealies away but whether or not that little guy made it was to remain a mystery until they started following the parents around more. They were just all four out on the wires out front. So the little non flyer finally was able to get lift off. I am sooooooo HAPPY!!!!!

I'm happy for you, and hoping to see mine back, they left last Friday.Soon i hope!

What a thrill it must of been to see them fledge, my first year having blues and it was awful out trip was while they fledged....but they were all here for about a week after fledging, but now parents and babies are gone I hope they come back.

Ooooops! Heth this may be wayyyy too belated but I had several chaos happening/stuff to arrange on the home front. That tiny turnip has only grown from 1/2" to 2" (it's a foreshortened angle so looks smaller than it really is) and it's almost the end of September. My other orchid's baby leaf is at a standstill for 3 months!!!! whereas it's other bifoliate leaf grew like dynamite (within 1-2 weeks)! I still suspect that secondary bifoliate leaf is hiding something??? maybe it is indeed hiding a spike???? It's still spotted! even 3 months later and barely grew whereas it's other bifoliate leaf didn't have any spots on it. Naughty orchid is taking forever! But then I read other people waiting 2 whole years. I'd go beserk! LOL! Whitecat and Orchid126 I am going from happy dance to hopping impatient, hee-hee! Heth my orchids are cattelya hybrids (Lc. Oh--me and my BIG MOUTH! As soon as I hit 'submit' I knew I AGAIN did a BAD THING!! Okay--here's the deal with my 'happy dance' graphic--I removed it from my Photobucket, and any of the graphics I did not create ENTIRELY so that I would no longer be tempted to post them. :o( I realized it was 'all about me' and the fun 'I' was having in making them and posting them, and whereas so many of you were kindly tolerant and indulged me, there are those who'd just as soon I keep this 'side' of the forum strictly 'business'! I don't blame them--this is what the forum is about--so we have a "CONVERSATION" side for anything beyond 'business'! Sheila--you have a great idea! That way, I can make it optional for the general public to see or NOT!! Susan Would there happen to be a common name for a lindera benzoin bush? I've noticed you are enamored with butterflies and moths, just curious how you acquire so many species, collecting or commerical? I am putting in several new beds and am trying to divide and bargain hunt as much as I can this fall, then splurge on bedding plants in the spring, I have worked a deal with a commercial grower to buy wholesale. Oh thanks everyone! I can not WAIT to show you the pictures of the rock. It looks so good. They drilled the well and it was neat to watch. They went 450 feet and hit a cavern another so many feet, I can'remember! Then they put all the pipe down and tomorrow they are dropping the pump and putting in the storage tank. Then we will have water :-) Kats - Thanks for the tip! We are getting a sediment filter, some other filter, gosh I got so much information today it is all blending. We also are getting a 2500 gallon storage tank since the water is going to smell and by settling in the tank it will take the smell away. The electrical guy was a real jerk to us. He didn't speak a word to DH or me. I guess he was putting a play scape together this weekend and drilled to the bone in his finger. I felt really bad but our GC said he should have gotten the job done last week when he said it would be done. Anyway, he took off right after we got there and never came back....everything was just sitting there in the house so I am thinking maybe he left to get supplies and lunch?!?!? Who knows. It will get done though. He was suppose to finish two weekends ago and then he said it would be done by last Monday. So, tomorrow the sheet rock will be delivered and the A/C guy will be there. They will stick around as long as you provide some meal worms now and suet during the winter months.Mine come back every winter to eat my suet.I provide some meal worms evry other day.

Yep Michelle, that is why I saw them today because I feed them mealworms and waxworms daily. I have been giving them extra since that fledging last week to help out more with the little non flyer. They will stick around until late Oct/early Nov here in Central WI, they don't overwinter here. I usually switch to dried mealworms by the middle of Oct so they don't stay around longer than they should. There are no berries left around here in the Winter and the only food would be whatever I would give them. I have tried and tried but have never been successful with getting them to eat suet.

YEA! Mine have not come back :( Im not really supprised since I did hold "little boy blue" hostage for awhile. I kept worms out but they didnt come. I can only assume my little guy made it as they did not come back and look at any of the boxes I would think they might have considered re nesting if only one baby survived. They have gone out of ear shot so they may have gone for the year:.( SIGH
