Now that's very creative and also cute! Does that fellow make other birdie birdhouses as well? I can see crows, bluebirds, robins, parrots, storks, owls.... I'll quit now before I find myself wrapped up in another project!

Carol, I have a big butterfly that is made from welded metal that is stuck into the middle of the swamp milkweed bed. I could hang the bags there. I have a fence that could be used to hang a bag. I'm not certain if you need to create a field of light waves between two hung bags or if a single one will work. I can also hang bags between the outside corners of my small greenhouse by using the tie downs that hold the shade cloth in place. That would be a good experiment because I raise butterfly host plants in big pots along this side of the greenhouse (can't waste that strip of sunny ground) and the wasps regularly patrol these plants! It surely can't hurt to experiment, nothing ventured nothing gained. :-) BTW, all Monarch cats left on these MW plants have been taken by the wasps. I'm trying to place in the enclosure every Monarch egg or cat I come across now. I purchased wasp traps from a company in Canada that had good results reported using them up there but my 'southern' wasps just ignore the traps. LOL These wasps are the biggest threat to my little cats. I had a lot of pvst cats and the wasps have found and carried off every one of them. How do these little cats ever survive in their native habitat? Mary

My sister and I both paint gourd birdhouses. We give them several light coats of spray paint as a basecoat, before using our acrylic paints. Then they get several coats of clear sealer. If you would like to try growing your own next year and have the room to grow them, I would be happy to send you some birdhouse gourd seeds if you live within the states. Hubby and I planted more this year and are hoping for a good crop, but with the drought we've had in GA this year, we aren't sure what we may get. This is the penguin I painted for one of my granddaughters. This is the Tweety I made and it is sold. And this is my patriotic gourd. Our daughter wanted it, so it is now hers.

They sure have some pretty hummingbird feeders. I don't need any more this year, but I saved the link for later reference. A few weeks ago I asked about how to raise mealy worms. I don't know if that's what you are referring to or not. I buy mine at Wildbird's Unlimited. I buy about 2,000 at a time. They go pretty fast around here since the robins found them. I lowered the top on my worm feeder so only the bluebirds could get to it, but after seeing the robins going to a nest last year I raised it so they could feed their babies as well. A couple of days ago I saw a mocking bird getting worms. I thought about getting a larger supply at one time, but did not know how often to take the worms from the refrigerator and feed them or even what to feed them. I've learned a lot from this place.
