Pink Flamingo Birdhouse!!!

I just bought him at a neighborhood craft sale(which I might join and sell some of my garden art!!)I think he is so adorable!!! The guy who made him is new to crafts and said that no self respecting bird would use it but he had fun making it!!!

I had some that a man in Louisiana made. My sister bought them for me. They would be easy to make and are so cool. The legs were pieces of rebar welded together a tall straight one for the leg and three short ones at the bottom for the three "toes". The body was a scrap of wood shaped sorta pear shaped with the pointy end as the tail and the rebar legs inserted into drilled holes in the body. The neck was a long piece of flat thin metal bent into an arch that was nailed to the body. At the end of the metal neck was another scrap of wood shaped as the head with a long hooked bill. The head had the beak area painted yellow, the legs and feet were yellow, the body and head were neon pink. The thin metal strap material of the neck allowed the head to bob up and down in the wind. They looked fantastic out by the pool. I really regret leaving them when I sold that house. I am determined to get more or get some made.

Thanks for the compliments !! My neighbor loves it - he thinks I made him a shooting gallery with all my hanging mingos ! LOL The top coat of paint is just plain old Ceramcoat . I made one today -- it didn;t turn out the way I pictured it in my head . It was to be a "Recycla-mingo" - I'll have to re-think that one. I have a Zebra that just needs finishing ... a Red , White & Blue One , and a Green Bay Packers one. I wish I had enough of an imagination to name them .... LOL... Anyway -- thanks again for making my head swell ( hehe )

Thanks, all. I just love my clematis, but they're so variable. Some take off like they're on steroids, others languish and still others die in multiples. And it isn't the same ones that always do well or ill for everyone. For me, Josephine grows like a weed, but I've lost at least 3 HF Youngs. Still, I don't usually give up on a clem until a couple of years pass with no sign of it. I've been surprised too many times. I guess I'm feeling pessimistic because so many of my Chalk Hill purchases don't seem to have made it, and they were mostly really unusual. I've given Pink Flamingo some alfalfa pellets and I'll wait, hope, and water.

That had me laughing,Lou. Wallisadi, there is a concrete patch you can fix that baby's neck with and then repaint it. I love it. I saw them done all black with the white bones painted on them for Halloween. Very cool idea.

Now that's very creative and also cute! Does that fellow make other birdie birdhouses as well? I can see crows, bluebirds, robins, parrots, storks, owls....

I'll quit now before I find myself wrapped up in another project!
