No pic but great description. This bird looks like the Ist spring male Orchard or Hooded Oriole except his throat is not black but a chestnut or maroon color with a thin streak going from the point of the throatpatch down the stomach. I watched him in my bird bath for probably 2 minutes and memorized everything I could. I can't believe I can't match him up with a picture! Never had that happen after getting such a good look. I have seen him in the orange blooms of Hummingbird vine twice but only from the back. The back of head and back is olive green, wing bars are black/white, black through the eyes, skinny bill and the breast/stomach is bright yellow except for the reddish color on the throat and the line down the front. Hope someone can help! Thanks.
