Mojave...Hello. Lord, their prices are a tad high. lol I'd pay 7.00 for a 4" if the plant is rare, something I can't find anywhere else. Forget larger sizes, lol.. 120.00 for a Jade? I'll take ten. lol..What size pot are they in? Why so much? I love Jades, but I'd like dofferemt colors..either variegated or deep red and yellow. Orchids..do you know their types? Phalaenopsis, the least expensive Orchid, in a 4" pot, can be found as low as 7.99. It depends. There are quite a few Orchid sellers on Ebay, from common to extremely rare. Prices vary, depending on type and size. Orchids can be really pricey. Several hundred dollars and more. lol. Thanks so much, Mojave. I'm glad you made it there. BTW, what two house plants did you get? If you don't know their names, can you post a pic? Most of my plant are either in clay or growing pots, most plants are sold in. Ornamental containers are pretty, but I think plants do best in gowing pots. Thanks again...please post pics..Toni PS. Have you ever gone to Hausermann's Orchids?

Usually my mowing in April is to get the yard cleaned up and the grass is beginning to grow. This past weekend was the second week I've mowed, and the grass really grew in that one week despite not receiving a lot of rain. I also started seeing butterflies in mid April, again earlier than usual. So I figure nature is moving along a couple weeks earlier this year. I only put out a few feeders to see if I attract any hummers, and will put out more when I see more birds.

A company called Strong Windows. They sell and install Okna and Soft-lite. Robert an upstanding guy, and very knowledgeable. This company may not be the cheapest, but they know what they are doing. You could buy the best window in the universe, and if the contractor is not skilled at installation, the window will be bad. So it pays to have expert installation. If you are in the Chicago area, the Wisconsin - Illinois Lily Society’s winter Education Series starts this weekend at the ChicagoBotanic Garden! When we can’t grow lilies, we enjoy learning more about them, as well as gardening in general. All are welcome! You do NOT have to be a member of the Lily Society to attend. (Though admission to the garden is free, there is a substantial parking fee for non-members. If you belong to an different garden that offers a reciprocal benefit, you can show that card at the gatehouse to waive the parking fee. Check the membership page of the ChicagoBotanic Garden, or the garden to which you belong, for the list of participating gardens.) First Talk The first talk will be on Sunday, January 29, at 2.00 PM, in the Pullman Room at the ChicagoBotanic Garden by long time society member Ray Vlach. Called “Pictures at an Exhibition,” Vlach’s slide-show presentation illustrates the mind-boggling flowers at the KeukenhofGarden’s 2016 Annual Spring Show. The famous KeukenhofGarden, in Lisse, Netherlands, is known as the Garden of Europe. Over 100 big Dutch floriculture companies exhibited their latest spring flowering hybrids at the 79 acre show – over seven million blooms. “Everything imaginable,” Vlach said, “from Alliums to Zantedeschias (calla lilies).” Established in 1949 to publicize Holland’s floral industry, the annual show allows Dutch floriculture companies to present their latest hybrids to the world. KeukenhofGarden was started in the 15th century, when the, uh, geographically challenged Countess Jacqueline of Bavaria to use the area to grow and gather fruit, flowers and vegetables. The garden itself was built in 1641, and modernized in 1857 by landscape architect Jan Zocher in style of an English landscape. Four talks and two bulb sales are the features of our 2017 education series, announced Sue Augustine, Society president.
