Nest question

My previous nestlings fledged 4 days ago, I opened the box that day, there was already another nest built on top of the old soiled nest. I took everything out of the box, cleaned the box, separated the old nest from the new one, threw away the old one and put the new nest back to the box.

The new nest is only about half of depth as usual, its about 1.5 inch deep. Does it matter? Is it too thin?

I thought the bluebirds would continue to build, but the mom laid one egg the next day. Now there are 3 eggs in the nest that's only 1.5 inch deep. I do have a couple clean nests from the past, should I add a clean nest to the bottom of the new nest?

Thanks for your thoughts.
